Jeremy Renner is finally out of surgery!
The actor known for appearing in significant blockbusters, the most notable being "Hawkeye" from the "Avengers" franchise, recently got into an unfortunate accident during the holiday period, and fans were left shocked. Fortunately, the star is out of surgery, and it has been reported that it went well without any complications, but it might still be too early to tell.
Jeremy Renner Remains In Critical Condition After Accident
The 51-year-old is reportedly out of surgery after suffering Blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries from handling a large snow plow. The "Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol" star, who sustained the injuries on New Year's Day while on his property in Reno, Nevada, was taken into the hospital on Monday.
A rep for Renner told PEOPLE that although he has been operated on and is stable, he is not out of the woods yet and remains in intensive care in a critical condition. The representative said:
"We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and has undergone surgery today, January 2nd, 2023. He has returned from surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition."
The spokesperson noted that his family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the several people involved, including the doctors and nurses, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, and the Carano and Murdock families. They also added that they felt "overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans."
According to the authorities, the "American Hustle" actor was disclosed as the only person involved in the accident, and that the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Major Accident Investigation Team would be looking into the situation.
Earlier, there were not enough details as to what exactly took place until a source for the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" star confirmed that Renner was critical but stable, per The Blast. They also noted that he was with his family and getting excellent care.
Deadline reported that the "Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation" star, whose home was probably part of those that lost power during the New's Years Eve winter storm, had to be airlifted to the hospital. In fact, the storm resulted in the lack of electricity in thirty-five thousand homes across multiple counties, including Washoe County.
The "Hurt Locker" actor has also starred alongside Hailee Steinfeld in the new "Hawkeye" miniseries from Marvel Studios. Steinfeld comes as his protegee, who is being trained to take over his position as the titular hero.
It also brought back Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, after Netflix canceled Marvel's "Daredevil." He has also appeared in films like "Arrival" which was nominated for "Best Picture" at the Oscars, as well as "Wind River," where he worked with his MCU co-star, Elizabeth Olsen.
'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters' Star Reminisces About Acting Early Years
The musician started his career as early as 2002 with roles like "Dahmer," and, in 2005, in the film, "Neo Ned." The Blast shared that out of all the significant roles he snagged, one in particular never felt right to him to this day.
Although his acting in the movie "Dahmer" helped him catch the eye of director Kathryn Bigelow, which led to him being cast in bigger films, he continued to lament that first one. He went as far as to state that it left a bitter taste in his mouth, leaving him looking over his shoulder months later.
In an interview, Renner said, "After I did the film, playing a guy who was a monster, things started getting creepy. My cat was stolen." Not only that, he recalled that a random girl bit him hard while in a bar because he stopped paying attention to her.
The bite was so bad that he ended up in the hospital to treat it, which led him to stop dating for a long time, adding, "lots of people I wanted to date, but people I probably shouldn't date."
The last situation made him incredibly suspicious about drinking in bars as he felt that the "Jeffery Dahmer" role was haunting him because the character's victims were picked up from bars.
