Nina Dobrev And Shaun White Ring In The New Year In Antarctica

Actress Nina Dobrev and her boyfriend, retired Olympic snowboarder Shaun White, are crossing things off their bucket life, one trip at a time!

After celebrating their Christmas holiday in Mexico with their families, the fan-favorite couple shocked fans at the start of the new year by sharing a slew of Instagram photos from Antarctica, where they rang in the new year together!

“The Vampire Diaries” actress has been sharing photos and videos from all over the world and it looks like she can now cross Antarctica off her bucket list! In her Instagram carousel, she posted three photos that feature her wearing aviator sunglasses and a plush black hat to match her all-black ensemble.

In the caption, she wrote, “new year. New continent. Antarctica 2023” and added the hashtag #AloneTogether. It didn’t take fans long to figure out who she was alone with, as Shaun White also posted three photos to his Instagram page. The athlete looked very dapper in a black suit complete with a black bow tie.

In his caption, Shaun wrote, “Guy retired from winter sports only to vacation in Antarctica. Happy 2023 everyone!!” Fans and famous friends showered both posts with red heart emojis. Photographer Eric Ray Davidson commented, “Need to know everything about this trip.” Actress Zoey Deutch dropped a single red heart emoji in the comments while actress Sabina Gadecki Rich called Nina’s look “CHIC.”

On Shaun’s post, the official Instagram account for the Olympics wrote “Happy 2023!” alongside a red heart emoji. Fans quickly echoed them in the comments. “I’m always excited to see your posts. I’m always like, ‘Where Shawn at this week, outer space or some s---?’!” Another fan agreed, writing, “Y’all really went from Mexico to Antarctica. I wouldn’t even know how to pack!”

However, other fans think that Shaun is about to propose to Nina on their exotic getaway! “That’s a proposal location and outfit! Ohh hoping to hear some good news,” one fan commented. “Looks like you’re getting ready to propose,” another follower chimed in.

Shaun White and Nina Dobrev have had fans talking ever since they met at an event organized by motivational speaker Tony Robbins in 2019. The following year, the couple moved in together at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in 2020. Since that time, they have been sharing their fun vacation photos from Costa Rica and Greece.

In October 2022, the retired Olympic snowboarder was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Gala. At the event, Shaun spoke to E! News and said that he still has “so much to achieve in my life.”

He said that one of the first things he wanted to do after retiring from snowboarding was to travel the world with his girlfriend by his side. “After the Olympics, I told her, ‘Let’s go for it. Just lay it out there. I just want to go. I want to travel,'” he said. That immediately brought up the question as to whether or not the two were already engaged, or about to be.

“Time will tell,” he said, seemingly shutting down rumors that he was already engaged. However, he assured fans that “Things are great with Nina and I, and I am so excited to focus on our relationship and my relationship with other friends and family.”

Right now, the two are just working on crossing things off of their bucket list. “We’ve done a lot,” he explained. “After the Olympics, there’s always like this emotional comedown, even if you win, and I was able to fill that time doing things with her, traveling around the world, seeing friends and family.”

His most memorable trip so far was traveling to France to visit with Nina’s mother. “It was just the best,” he shared. “These are those moments. You can have the glitz and glam of it all, but real family quality time with people is what I want for the most—and now I am doing that.”

Even though he likes to have family quality time, it looks like he and Nina Dobrev are going to have a lot of alone time until they return from Antarctica!
