Last week, TMZ reported that R. Kelly had been attacked in his prison cell by a fellow inmate in the Chicago prison that they're incarcerated at. ( Metropolitan Correctional Center) This was reportedly due to multiple lock downs occurring at the facility after there were pro-Kelly protests outside of it. Kelly was on his bed and that's when the inmate came and started to punch the singer repeatedly on the head. He suffered minor injuries as a result of the altercation.

Kelly's attorney, Steven Greenberg, did not comment on the situation but did say that Kelly is a "model inmate." Now, more details are surfacing regarding that hectic incident inside of Kelly's cell.

According to Page Six, court records stated that the inmate tried to stab Kelly with a pen. This man also had "F*ck the feds" tattooed on his face. Greenberg also stated that the inmate was held back by others before he was able to get a chance at stabbing Kelly.

“This is an inmate that never should have been anywhere near Mr. Kelly, an individual who is charged with the most violent of crimes, and one who plainly has no respect for the rules, he has the phrase ‘Fu** The Feds’ tattooed on his face,” said Greenberg in a motion filed asking to release Kelly from prison on bail.

Greenberg added that Kelly mostly stays in his cell out of his own safety. Due to that altercation, he was placed in solitary confinement for more protection.

“To-date, there have been at least a half-dozen of these displays of support outside of the MCC, always peaceful. “These unnecessary institutional lockdowns have needlessly promoted animosity towards Mr. Kelly. Notably, the institution does not go into lockdown during other, violent, downtown protests or during citywide looting.”

Kelly's Brooklyn and Chicago trials are also supposed to take place later this year regarding his child sex abuse charges along with racketeering. Kelly still wants to get out on bail and live with his girlfriend, Joycelyn Savage.

A few weeks ago, three associates of Kelly's were also arrested for trying to pay off and/or intimidate witnesses. Attorney Greenberg has since denied any involvement by Kelly in these men's actions. Kelly's former manager, Donnell Russell, was also arrested this month for a threatening call he placed to the theater in New York City in December of 2018 where 'Surviving R. Kelly' was premiered. This Lifetime docu-series ended up premiering the next month and was enough to get Kelly arrested for his crimes.
