Mary Fitzgerald and husband Romain Bonnet are speaking out, via their representative, after it was revealed that their over-the-top wedding on "Selling Sunset" season two was not their first time saying "I do."

Days after court documents revealed that the couple had actually been married for nearly two years before tying the knot on the Netflix reality series, a rep for the couple released a statement to The Sun, admitting that Mary and Romain had, in fact, been legally married since 2018.

"Mary and Romain had a civil union a couple of months before the show began filming in June 2018, but they chose not to tell any of their friends or family as they were still trying to see if their relationship would work out in the long term," the rep explained on August 24.

"In their minds they weren't properly married until the wedding that was filmed during the show," they added.

News of Mary's fake wedding comes on the heels of allegations claiming the realtors working on "Selling Sunset" aren't actually realtors.

An insider close to "Selling Sunset" also spoke to The Sun about the ongoing speculation regarding the authenticity of the series and said they found it to be sad that so many people were speaking badly about the series.

"It is sad that people are trying to badmouth the show and make all these false claims," the insider stated. "There is definitely a sense of jealousy from some quarters, but Jason wants to rise above it all and stay on higher ground."

Following a number of questions about the cast's jobs, Jason Oppenheim, who has worked closely with Mary for several years, confirmed that all of the ladies of the show are licensed realtors.

After Jason's confirmation regarding the employees at his firm, and his cast mates on "Selling Sunset," the insider said he is ready to get back to work at his booming business.

"[Jason] wants to set the record straight and then go back to running the biggest property agency in town," the source shared. "But it is astonishing that in 2020, he and the team have become the most famous realtors in the world and have become stars thanks to their hard work and success."

Because Romain was seen proposing to Mary on the show, and also discussing the possibility of a future with her prior to their televised wedding, the couple has been facing major claims of fakery. And, by the looks of things, they weren't being honest with viewers about their relationship.

While they may wanted to take things slow, even after getting married in 2018, they acted as if they were not married throughout the first two seasons of the series.
