Pokimane and her streamer adversaries have been topping the gossip channels as of late. 2020 has not been kind to her, as one controversy after another has kept her in the headlines. Tiffs with ItsAGundam, KeemStar, and LeafyIsHere are just a few of the controversies causing a lot of grief for the popular streamer. First, they mocked her fans for being "simps," then they attacked her appearance, and finally they viciously tried to prove she had a boyfriend in the hopes of causing her to lose subs. Leafy has even been permanently banned from YouTube for harassing Pokimane.

Pokimane Defends Her Fans

Pokimane fiercely defended her fans. While some mocked her fans appearances, others mocked them for being "simps" who were just hoping to woo Pokimane over with money. However, Pokimane says "my fans aren't simps and I'm not a thot" in response to this criticism, and for good reason. She also chides other streamers for attacking her fans' appearances. Overall, she is very appreciative of her supporters. In the past, she found humor in simps memes, but lately events have changed her mind, stating "things are getting to a point where people online are conscious about saying anything nice about a girl" on a Misfits podcast.

Pokimane's Apology Video

Pokimane's apology video came after a bit of an ill-timed vacation. She apologizes for a list of things, starting with the fact that her apology is late. She apologizes for her 2018 beef with Keemstar, where she took down screenshots of their twitter war after privately resolving the issue with Keem. She has also been caught taking down videos with inappropriate clickbait titles -- however, those videos were her original content that was reuploaded with unrelated titles. Now, she doesn't take down videos, unless they are duplicate of her own content. She also apologizes for attacking ItsAGundam through their sponsor. Definitely watch the full almost 16-minute video!

Pokimane And Growing As A Person

YouTube | Pokimane

Pokimane didn't just apologize for her issues with other content creators. She also brought up an old tweet where she casually used inappropriate language, saying that she never meant it to be a racist thing. She acknowledges the clips of her using that language are older, and that she has grown as a person since then. She says she also strives to be not use that language today. Interestingly, Pokimane then segways into defending her looks. While some streamers attacked her for not always being what she calls "Instagram Ready" she acknowledges that it's unfair that women are held to a higher standard than men in the gaming world, appearance wise. She does not regret the videos she's appeared in with no makeup. She tells fans and haters alike that she's also intentionally keeping her work life and personal life separate, which is why she doesn't share her romantic or platonic relationships online.

Pokimane Takes A Break

Instagram | pokimanelol

Pokimane has clearly been stressed about how much she has been in the news lately. Even though she took some time off, she felt guilty. She promises the streaming community that she will do better in the future and avoid encountering these situations in the future whenever she can. She also pledges to apologize for issues as they happen, rather than much later as in this video. As for now, Pokimane is going to take a longer break, claiming to be burnt out from the lifestyle that comes with being a Twitch personality. She plans to come back after a month, hopefully refreshed and excited to create the content she is so well known and loved for.
