So what is going to make the Nickmas game one of the most unique and fun experiences of the 2022 NFL season, well let us fill you in!
CBS Sports and Nickelodeon is bringing us all a wonderful holiday gift that will most certainly become a tradition. After winning a Sports Emmy during their coverage of previous NFL Wild Card Games, the Nickelodeon NFL Nickmas Game will have CBS Sports’ Nate Burleson, Noah Eagle, and Nick star Gabrielle Nevaeh Green (That Girl Lay Lay) to call all the action also with the help of Nick star Young Dylan (Dylan Gilmer, Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan) as games sideline reporter. SpongeBob SquarePants’ Patrick Star (voiced by Bill Fagerbakke) will join from Bikini Bottom and will provide side-splitting live commentary.
The Nickelodeon NFL Nickmas Game is a one-of-a-kind family-friendly event with Nick-themed elements throughout, including guest reporters, original on-field graphics, virtual filters, and more for kids and families. Watching to preview above should put you right into the thick of things and show what is so unique about it all. And to fill in the blanks and for more of what to expect, The Blast spoke with many of the Nick stars involved and they told us EXCLUSIVELY all the other fun that we should expect.
Nick Stars Gabrielle Nevaeh Green & Young Dylan Talk NFL Nickmas
The Blast spoke to Gabrielle Nevaeh Green and Young Dylan exclusively about the game, Green got us excited with her excitement telling us what to expect, "This is the Nickmas game, and that is what we are calling it. We will have new visuals, holiday-themed snow, and virtual presents, we will have slime, and Patrick Star commentating from Bikini Bottom during the game, it is going to be a wonderful educational broadcast for people who haven't watched football before or trying to get into the sport. It is going to be wonderful for all kids and families."
For those that have seen it in the past, or just getting into it, Young Dylan added a really great reason to witness it, because it is always different telling us, "I feel like every year the game will evolve, I feel like with the kids and adults watching, we will really step it up."
But when it comes to the game and all that Nickelodeon will offer, who will win the game, if it was up to Young Dylan and Green, they are leaning towards LA with Green saying, "I would love for the Rams to win, it will be a level playing feel, but I would love for the Rams to win, I have to represent my city." Where Young Dylan may have it a 50/50 contest saying, "Since we are in LA, I am going with the Rams, Russell Wilson, Aaron Donald. It is a great match and with Baker Mayfield leading the Rams, I feel like it will be a coin toss if I was going, to be honest with you."
Regardless of what will happen, it seems that enjoying it will be easy as Green and Dylan are very excited, and things appear to be the same when we talked to Bill Fagerbakke about it all.
Voice Of SpongeBob SquarePants’ Patrick Star Bill Fagerbakke Talks NFL
Bill Fagerbakke has made us laugh and provided so much entertainment in all of his acting work, and the joy he has given us as the voice of Patrick Star has provided years of laughs that we will never soon forget. So when we asked what should be expected from the telecast and his live commentary about football and the NFL he was quick to tell us it is all about what Patrick Star will provide to it all saying, "What I know about football isn't really relevant to Patrick, that is the beauty of animated characters. They are in a fluid state of existence that really is about imagination. No one can ever say Patrick would ever say that, you never have to deal with what on-camera actors do, this is animation and in the moment and having fun, so that's what I am fixing to do with this and there is not going to be a graph of Patrick's awareness of offensive strategies or anything like that, Nate Burleson, Noah Eagle are great, and the team that has been put together for this is amazing. I just don't want to mess it up! If I can help out and pop in a little bit, people are working so hard so I don't want to mess it up with all the goofiness."
Though Fagerbakke doesn't want to mess it up, we are pretty confident he will only enhance it. And the game may need all the enhancement possible since the teams that are playing haven't had a good go at it this year with the Broncos and the Rams having equally disappointing seasons. When we asked who he thought was going to win the game, or better yet, what Patrick Star thought was going to be the winner, he added in Patrick's iconic voice, "Well whoever has the best post-game meal wins! That's what I think!" Then he reverted right back to being Bill adding, "Well both teams have a rough year man. That Rams offensive line is rough, I feel for them. It has been tough!''
The joyous Fagerbakke is the perfect addition to the game, and with all the bells and whistles that will add to it, it is a no-brainer to watch it with the family, trust us, it is going to be an instant classic!
So now, it is all about watching it. Make sure to tune in to it all as the Nickelodeon NFL Nickmas Game between the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams will be broadcasted on Sunday, Dec. 25, at 4:30 p.m. (ET).
