Dua Lipa is closing the year as a more prosperous woman!
The artist has come a long way since she began her music journey by publishing Nelly Furtado and P!nk cover songs on YouTube. After realizing how much more she could do, Lipa released her first single, "New Love," in August 2015, and by the following year, she had become a well-known name in the music scene.
The 27-year-old's eponymous debut album was released in 2017, peaking at number three on the UK Albums Chart. Apart from birthing her most successful single, "New Rules," the album has earned her several accolades and recognition. These days, she enjoys the financial success she probably never imagined she would get.
Dua Lipa Tops 2021 Earnings With Lucrative Deals & Better Management
When it was reported earlier this year that Lipa had parted ways with her London-based management company — TaP management— many assumed it was over for the singer-songwriter. However, the opposite seems to be the case as she has continued to have a better time without them.
The "Levitating" hitmaker has accrued even more fortune, adding a whopping £4 million to her earnings. Her company — Dua Lipa Limited — went up £21.6 from the £17.5 million it previously earned in 2021.
It also helps that the "Be The One" singer has a lovely nest of £11.6 million tugged away in another of her companies, suggesting that her new manager, who happens to be her dad, is well worth the hype.
Lipa's dad, Dukagjin Lipa, had come on the scene shortly after the six-time Brit Awards winner parted ways with the management owned by Ben Mawson and Ed Millet in February. The singer had allegedly left after a disagreement with the duo over earnings.
Now, the English and Albanian native is signed to Warner Music, bagging mouth-watering deals with well-respected businesses such as Versace, Evian, and Yves Saint Laurent. She even has social media deals promoting the alcoholic drink, Truly Vodka, per Daily Mail.
Having such a strong presence in the industry has also allowed her to turn down certain gigs, no matter how big they are. Lipa most recently used her status to refuse to perform at the recently concluded World Cup held in Qatar.
The Blast shared that the Grammy Awards winner had taken to her Instagram Stories to assure her fans that she would not be attending the event based on specific circumstances. The "Skavlan" chat show guest began:
"There is currently a lot of speculation that I will be performing at the opening ceremony of the world cup in Qatar. I will not be performing, and nor have I ever been involved in any negotiation to perform."
Despite that snag, she explained that she would be cheering her home country from the comfort of her home, adding, "I will be cheering England on from afar, and I look forward to visiting Qatar when it has fulfilled all the human rights pledges it made when it won the right to host the World Cup. One love, Dua x."
Dua's longtime fans presumably understand her stance on the issue, having followed her career since its inception and seeing her fight for what she believes in.
The 'Levitating' Singer Gets Albanian Citizenship From The Country's President & Mayor
The Blast reported last month that the Guinness World Records holder had officially become a dual citizen. As it turned out, Lipa was granted Albanian citizenship by President Bajram Begaj and Mayor Erion Veliaj.
Sharing the news via Instagram, she showed off the blue plaid-patterned midi dress, thigh-high boots, and match bag she rocked to the ceremony. The dress, with ruched details around the bust and midriff area, had a stylish neck and flared hands.
Lipa's black hair, styled with a center part, was tucked behind her ears, showcasing her simple gold earrings. The post included photos of her gleefully holding her citizenship certificate before beaming at the camera.
The only video in the mix showed the Mayor reading out the declaration oath as she watched him with expressive eyes. "Thank you, President Bajram Begaj and Mayor @erionveliaj for this honour ~ got my Albanian citizenship!!" Lipa began before adding, "faleminderit, po ndihem shume krenare," meaning, "thank you, I am feeling very proud."
