What Is Dua Lipa’s Relationship With Albania?

While the "Cold Heart" songstress was born in London and is globally known as an English singer, her real roots stem from Albania as she was born to Kosovar-Albanian parents who fled the country because of conflict and political instability in the Balkans.

Despite leaving her home, Lipa was familiarized with her Albanian heritage by her parents, and this is evident in how she proudly references her home country in her music, on social media, and even during interviews with the press.

The singer, who shares a close bond with her family, co-founded the Sunny Hill Foundation with her dad Dukagjin Lipa to help charities and financially assist cultural events in Kosovo. She often travels to the nation for family vacations from time to time.

Speaking about her shared heritage as both an Albanian and a Briton, Lipa often revealed that she believes she has the best of both worlds. She once said in an interview, "I feel very proud to be from both places, and I feel like I represent both places. In Kosovo, the second that you do something and you're making these moves around the world, you're instantly a key person there."
