In addition to her role as Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton was recently given a new honorable title by her father-in-law, King Charles III. She was previously known as the Duchess of Cambridge; however, after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Middleton and Prince William inherited the titles the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The titles were previously owned by King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla Parker-Bowles, but they were relinquished in September after he assumed the throne. Buckingham Palace also recently announced that King Charles' birthday next year would be six weeks after his May coronation.

The Princess of Wales' new title comes as no surprise as she has been spotted honoring the guard regime in the past decade on several St. Patrick's Day holidays. During the parade, Middleton usually goes to greet the Irish Guards in green attire to match the holiday.

Other events usually include a toast to Guinness and an appearance from Irish wolfhound Turlough Mor, the regimental mascot.

William, who previously held Middleton's current title, was also honored as well. King Charles III bestowed on him the Colonel of the Welsh Guards, in line with his Prince of Wales title. Queen Consort Camila was not left out and earned the Colonel of the Grenadier Guards. Prince Andrew previously held the role; however, he was stripped of it earlier this year.

Besides the new titles, Buckingham Palace also revealed that the King Charles III birthday parade, known as the Trooping the Color, will occur on June 17, 2023. The date is merely six weeks after the scheduled date of his coronation on May 6. The royal's birthday is actually in November; however, the new date was decided on because of the more favorable weather.

Following the legal troubles he faced, on January 13, Queen Elizabeth stripped Prince Andrew of his royal patronages and military affirmations, including his Colonel of the Grenadier Guards title. A statement from Buckingham Palace read, "With the Queen's approval and agreement, the Duke of York's military affiliations and Royal patronages have been returned to the Queen."

"The Duke of York will continue not to undertake any public duties and is defending this case as a private citizen," it continued. Prince Andrew was also reportedly prohibited from using "'His Royal Highness' in any official capacity."

The royal decree was made barely a day after Andrew's motion for the court to dismiss a sexual abuse case against him was rejected. In August last year, Virginia Giuffre filed a lawsuit against Prince Andrew for sexually abusing her on three different occasions. The case was eventually settled out of court with the disgraced prince having to pay an undisclosed amount of money to Giuffre and her charity.
