Rapper Lil' Wayne is being sued by his former private chef after she claimed he fired her for leaving work to tend to a sick child.
According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Morghan Medlock filed a lawsuit against the musician -- real name Dwayne Carter for wrongful termination, discrimination, and retaliation. In the filing, the hef claims to have worked for the rapper for over a year and prepared most of his meals for that time period.
Medlock says she was hired in October 2020 and was tasked with "coordinating (Wayne's) menus on a daily basis to meet his particular requests." Adding, "her tasks included but were not limited to the shopping and preparation of each meal, coordinating the anticipated number of meals to prepare in addition to meeting others demands and requests." The job apparently also included traveling with Lil' Wayne due to the nature of his business. In other words, she claims to have been "on call" for most of the days she worked with the musician.
Lil' Wayne's Private Chef Claims She Was Fired For Taking Care Of Sick Kid
On Memorial Day weekend of 2022, the chef claims she traveled to Las Vegas with Wayne's entourage to work with the rest of his staff. On the trip, Medlock claims she got a call that her 10-year-old son had sustained "a severe head injury and concussion requiring emergency hospitalization." She describes the situation, saying, "Though she was well aware of her job tasks and schedule" she made her best efforts to coordinate a return to Los Angeles to be with her sick child. But, she says the trip was delayed due to Carter's "insistence on smoking onboard the aircraft."
In the lawsuit, the chef claims upon returning to L.A. she rushed to be by her son's side and keep Wayne's staff in the loop on the ongoing situation.
Following the incident, Wayne's assistant allegedly kept asking the chef if "she was quitting," to which she claims to have "emphatically told her "No."
