Emmanuel the emu is walking on his own again!
It's been a long two months for his caregiver Taylor Blake, who hasn't left the TikTok famous bird's side while he battled an illness that is believed to be from extreme stress. And now two months later, the popular emu is finally up and walking around on his own again.
Emmanuel The Emu Is Up And Walking Around Again!
Blake recently shared a video on TikTok showing the sweet emu walking around the farm after two months of illness and recovery. "EMMANUEL TODD LOPEZ DID IT😭 Just over 2 months. 67 days. 1608 hours. 96480 minutes. Plus the past 60 nights sleeping in the barn," Blake started the caption of the tear-filled video. "We have worked so hard for this moment, it’s difficult to put into words how it feels to see him walk on his own. From being unable to lift his head up, to walking on his own. WE DID IT👏🏻❤️"
Many of Knuckle Bump Farms' fans dropped into the comments to say how happy they are that Emmanuel is recovering. "YEAH EMMANUEL TODD LOPEZ!!!!! 🥰 This makes me so happy," one follower wrote. Another added, "Thank you for sharing this! I think we all shed a few happy tears along with you. 🥰" One fan pointed out that more normal days are just around the corner saying, "He’ll be knocking over your phone in no time! Go buddyyyy! 💪🏻"
A Follow Up Video Shows Emmanuel Is Back In Action
Blake posted a follow up video of Emmanuel walking past her phone like he used to before he fell ill. Blake couldn't hold back her excitement, and Emmanuel's fans felt the same way. "Emmanuel don—-I mean DO do it!!!! ❤️❤️" one fan wrote. "EMMANUEL IS BACK!!! 🥺😳" another follower added. And another fan of Emmanuel's said, "This is the best interruption I have seen in the last 67 days."
Emmanuel fell ill in mid-October after most of the birds on Knuckle Bump Farms were hit with the avian flu. Blake feared that the emu also had the flu, but tests later revealed that he was negative for everything they tested for, including the avian flu. It was determined that Emmanuel was likely dealing with high levels of stress and that caused the usually sassy bird to become ill. Recovery was a long road for the emu and Blake who stayed by his side to nurse him back to health.
