Tracy Morgan is divorcing his wife of 5-years, Megan Wollover, after the comedian says the couple has decided to split and it has been a 'challenging time' for everyone involved.
According to multiple reports, the comedian issues a statement saying he and his wife have decided to pull the plug on their marriage.
“Sadly, after nearly five years of marriage, Megan and I are filing for divorce. This is a challenging time for all involved, so I ask that you please respect our privacy,” a spokesperson for Morgan said.
The '30 Rock' star and his wife share one daughter together, 7-year-old Maven, and he is also the father of two adult sons.
The couple announced their engagement on the Emmy's red carpet in September of 2012 and were married in August of 2015. As you know, the wedding came just 14 months after a horrific car accident that left Tracy fighting for his life.
On June 7, 2014, a Walmart truck slammed into Tracy's bus on the New Jersey Turnpike -- killing his friend James McNair -- and leaving him severely injured and wheelchair-bound for five months.
It's unclear if Tracy and Megan have a prenuptial agreement, and if they have agreed on custody and child support.
But, the comedian reportedly settled with Walmart for the huge sum of $90 Million. If nothing was signed, his wife would be entitled to half of anything earned while the two were married, including child support for their daughter.
On the 5th anniversary of Tracy's accident, the comedian reflected on the incident, saying, "There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss my friend Jimmy Mac, who sadly lost his life that night. I love you Jimmy. I thank GOD for my family. I am eternally grateful for the love and support they give me. My wife, daughter, sons, and friends are what got me back on my feet. I live every day trying to do right by them and the most of this second chance."
The announcement of the couple's split comes just two months after Morgan spoke overwhelmingly positive about life at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We're taking this time to get closer -- loving more and being patient with each other," he said. The family is quarantined together in their home in New Jersey, adding, "My life is always so busy, so now I get time to just be with my family."
"I just want to hug my mother. I want to hug the world -- I just can't wait to hug everybody. I mean that with all my heart," Morgan said.
The couple hasn't yet officially filed legal documents to end their marriage.
