While most of us require some lemon and butter on our crab legs, Howie the TikTok famous crab is enjoying them without. After 30 days of fasting in order to molt, and molting live on TikTok for all to see, she's now at the stage where she's eating her old exoskeleton, including her old legs.

Howie The Crab Is Slowly Getting Back To Her Old Happy Self After Her Long Molt

In a recent Instagram post, Howie's mom explains why the little rainbow crab is seen eating her own legs. "I always find it a bit comical when I see her eat the legs of her old shell ?. Crabs and other animals will eat their fresh molts for minerals and nutrients. This is natural and healthy for her. Not everyone will enjoy this post but I love even the gross things about her ❤️ ," the caption reads.

Many of Howie's fans dropped into the comment section to make funny jokes about the situation and also to say they've learned so much from Howie about the molting process. "We love a recycling queen," one follower wrote. Another added, "'Hey now, we all love crab around here' ?❤️" One fan joked, "She knows she’s a snack ?" and another commented on the new things she's learned saying, "I think it’s actually fascinating. I love learning new things through your page."

The jokes didn't stop there. "She needs a little butter! Lol. Go Howie!," one person hilariously pointed out. "She says, 'crab legs are a delicacy mom,'" said another.

Howie's mom also posted a video of this interesting moment on TikTok set to the Weird Al Yankovic's song "Eat It" captioned, "I always laugh when I see her eat her legs ??? I'm not even going to moderate the comments on this one LOL."

While many asked if this is normal behavior and other questions to help build their knowledge about the process, the jokes began rolling in on this post just like the Instagram post. "Would this be considered Crabalism? ??," one fan joked. Another said, "Is Howie willing to share or is she...shellfish? ?" And another wrote, "'Delicious. Made it myself.'"

After a stressful month of worrying about the sweet little crab, Howie's followers were having a great time cracking crab jokes (no pun intended). "She really put her foot in her mouth! …I’ll show myself out, sorry," one fan jokingly wrote. Another added, "People in your comments: I love Howie so much, I'm never eating crab again! Howie: more for me! ??"

Howie The Crab Is Starting To Go Back To Normal After Molting

While it will take a little bit of time for Howie to get back to her normal happy self after her molt, she's slowly getting there. Throughout the process, she's taught many people on social media all about how crabs molt, as many asked questions in the comments of her photos and videos. It won't be long before new videos of her pinching her cats or taking walks with her mom are the norm again, and her fans are here for it!

In a recent update on TikTok, Howie's mom introduced a new pet to her followers and to Howie, along with a quick update on Howie's progress. "Introducing Howie's new sister Hazel the Hedgehog. She's still a baby and it'll take time for her to adjust and to learn to wear hats! ???❤️? Siren is having a difficult time accepting that she can't play with Hazel lol. Howie's new shell is getting some blue back. Howie is eating her old shell and pooping up a storm!" she captioned the video of the two new friends meeting.

This means there are new adventures on the horizon for the little rainbow crab and her new sister Hazel the hedgehog.
