Melanie Martin is bringing back the sweet memories she shared with her late fiancé Aaron Carter.

The 30-year-old's life became disrupted after Carter's body was found dead in a bathtub in his California home last month. Even though the pair announced their engagement in June 2020, the relationship status at the time of the singer's death has remained unclear. Nevertheless, the actress still posts happy content from when her beau was alive.

Martin appears to be finding her feet one month after Carter, with whom she shares a one-year-old son, Prince, died. During their time together, the Hampton University alum and the "Fool's Gold" singer had endured a tumultuous relationship.

That, nonetheless, was not obvious in the sweet pic Martin recently shared with her 218k followers via her Instagram Story. The photo featured the "The Shadow Box" theater star holding up a phone as she and Carter posed in front of a mirror.

The couple looked cute as a button in their matching gray and white onesies and bare feet. In the "Fat Albert" actor's arms was their child, who seemed unaware of his parents' plans thanks to the nap he was enjoying. Carter cradled the baby boy's neck while his fiancée put her hand around his shoulders.

Martin turned on the waterworks in another Instagram Story that showed a festive onesie — in adult size — on a floor carpet. In the background, the instrumentals for "Somewhere in My Memory" from the "Home Alone: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" played softly.

While it is possible that Carter was supposed to rock the onesie, it is unclear if Martin was the one who purchased it for him or if the rapper had seen it before his unexpected passing in November.

The bittersweet mood of the posts fit perfectly with the actress's feelings regarding her custody win. Per The Blast, she regained full custody of Prince after a Los Angeles judge ruled in her favor. Although Martin was in New York when the ruling was made, she quickly hopped on a flight to California to get her son from his grandmother.

The tot had been in the care of Martin's mother since September because of concerns raised from Carter's drug abuse and domestic violence tendencies. Speaking on the victory, the "Amy Heckerling's I Could Never Be Your Woman" actress expressed:

"I'm honoring Aaron today, and I know he would be so proud of me. I'm very emotional thinking we could have been a family, but Aaron would be so happy knowing I got him back."

Even Carter's mother, Jane Elizabeth, who is not the biggest fan of Martin, admitted her pleasure with the court's decision to return custody of Prince to Martin. "The child should be with the mother," Jane explained.

Martin had previously revealed that her man's wish for the festive holiday was for them to "get custody of our son by Christmas."

Earlier this month, The Blast reported that Martin was ready to bury the hatchet with her 'in-laws' because she did not want any bad blood between them, especially for her son's sake. In fact, the mother-of-one had high hopes that Prince would be cared for by his father's people.

It had looked like trouble was brewing when Aaronms twin sister, Angel, filed legal papers to take over his estate. As it turned out, the Nickelodeon guest star died without a will, leaving the status of who would inherit his estate in limbo. Addressing the issue, Martin divulged:

"I don't want any problems or stress over Aaron's estate. I just want Prince to be taken care of and want Aaron's legacy to live on."

"I don't want any bad blood with Aaron's family. Whoever wants to be in Prince's life can be in Prince's life," she added. Her optimistic views came on the heels of Jane revealing that her grandchild's mother would not be getting an invitation to the scattering of Aaron's ashes in 2023.

The "Ooh Wee" hitmaker's ashes — which are in his twin sister's possession— will be returned to his home state of Florida and spread into the ocean along with that of his sister, Leslie, who died in 2012.
