Jane Fonda's cancer battle is almost over!
Fans first knew of the actress' health issues when she revealed via social media that she had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in September. However, Fonda did not seem worried about the diagnosis or its future outcomes, claiming that she felt "lucky" because it was "very treatable" and she had the privilege to access top medical facilities.
Jane Fonda Celebrates Cancer Going Into Remission After Brief Battle
Since Fonda announced her ordeal with the disease that occurs when an individual's body produces an excess amount of abnormal lymphocytes, a white blood cell type, fans have fervently hoped for her improvement.
They eventually got their prayers answered when the "Barbarella" star — who turns 85 on December 21 — revealed via her website that her cancer was in remission. Describing it as the "BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!!!," she began:
"I am feeling so blessed, so fortunate. I thank all of you who prayed and sent good thoughts my way. I am confident that it played a role in the good news."
The Academy Awards winner — previously diagnosed with skin and breast cancer — explained that she was "especially happy" because, even though her first four chemotherapy treatments were "rather easy" for her, the last one was not.
The treatment had been so bad that it became "hard to accomplish much of anything." Luckily the "effects wore off" in time for the "Grace and Frankie" star to travel to Washington to partake in a climate rally.
After encouraging readers and fans to get more involved in the climate change movement, Fonda appreciated her supporters for the "good wishes" they sent her way so far. The actress was definitely feeling those wishes when she turned up at a birthday bash last month.
The party was held to raise funds for the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential (GCAPP) — Fonda's teen pregnancy prevention and adolescent health organization.
The Blast reported that the Golden Lion Honorary Award holder disclosed how she felt when she told news publications, "I'm not losing my hair. I don't feel nauseous. The week when I get the chemo is hard, but then after that, I feel good. I feel very strong."
The 84-year-old confessed that while she occasionally felt weak from her treatments, her solace came from the fact that she was "halfway through" the process, which was "easier than a lot of other" cancer treatments.
Overall, Fonda felt "great" and looked even better in the embellished black dress she wore to the event. The National Women's Hall of Fame inductee ensured she used her star power to entertain A-list guests such as Sara Blakely, Tyler Perry, Glennon Doyle, Ludacris, Sanjay Gupta, and his wife, Rebecca.
The turnout resulted in heavy cash flow, raising over $1 million in funds for the foundation.
The 'Grace and Frankie' Star Glows In First Public Appearance After Cancer News
Fonda's first public appearance after she announced her cancer diagnosis came during the 2022 Pennsylvania Conference For Women event. The occasion, held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, saw the on-screen icon glowing in a light gray checkered blazer combo.
The blazer, which came with a belted middle, fit her trim figure perfectly and brought attention to the white shirt underneath. For bottoms, the "Coming Home" actress opened for matching gray slacks and boots.
The Blast shared that the former fashion model kept her accessories simple, wearing gold earrings, a bracelet, and a wristwatch. Her short silver hair framed her slightly made-up face.
The conference, a non-partisan, non-profit, professional, and personal development event, which sought to empower women, boasted over 100 high-ranking speakers. They touched on significant issues that affected women's lives, including work/life balance, health, personal finance, business and entrepreneurship, executive leadership, and so on.
During her session, Fonda kept things easy-breezy with a few light-hearted jokes that got the crowd laughing. Per the conference's website, she and her closest friend Lily Tomlin — who was added to the lineup for the day — and were slated to have "a conversation about friendship, career resilience, ageism, activism, and more."
That event was just one of many that the "Elena and the Secret of Avalor" actress graced with her presence. An insider at the time claimed that Fonda was still keeping up with her climate activism work and her political action committee.
