By TheBlast Staff on July 19, 2020 at 5:02 AM EDT

Britney Spears has been without basic human rights since 2008. The pop star is unable to vote, get married, have children, or own a cell phone. She can't select her own legal representation and she's also ineligible to make any career or financial-based decisions.

Spears is due back in court on July 22nd, where it's hoped her 12-year long conservatorship case will come to a close.

Now, via the recent resurgence, celebrities are catching wind of the #FreeBritney movement - the latest of which is Britney's fellow/former "X Factor" judge Demi Lovato.

On June 26th, dedicated fans behind both stars began sharing news that Lovato had followed Spears on Instagram.

The "Circus" singer has been following the "Confident" songstress since at least March 2019...so last month's movement was actually Demi following Britney back.

Late last night (July 18th), Lovato left a few low-key comments under some of Spears' recent posts.

It's the timing of Demi's follow back and comment drops that have her simple sentiments carrying a lot of weight amongst the #FreeBritney supporters...see what she said below.

Via Instagram, Demi said: "Beautiful!" (on Britney's latest selfie), "Miss you ?" (on the cat/butterfly graphic), and "WERK ???" (on Britney's recent Rihanna dance).

Likely the weightiest came under Spears' pun-tastic "pray" post, where Lovato wrote a collective "We love you Britney ???"

Fans of both stars flooded Demi's comments with their own replies:

"@ddlovato you're so SUPPORTIVE ❤️ love u," one said, another adding "thank you Demiiiii... b-army love you too ❤."

And a top comment said "I've been WAITING for Demi to join the movement."

As mentioned earlier - Lovato and Spears are not strangers.

The two Disney alum sat alongside each other as judges during season two of "The X Factor" (US) in 2012, which brought forth the time Spears accidentally spat on Lovato (with Lovato later saying "it was awesome")... see the moment below ⚡

At the time: Britney was 30 and Demi had just turned 20, but age didn't seem to matter - the two became fast friends.

"We bonded at The X Factor's boot camp," Demi said at a promotional event. "During breaks we'd sit behind the panel and use the paper to play tic tac toe and doodle.''

(Interestingly...while Spears was well into having her legal restraints during the 2012 talent show stint, Lovato found herself under similar restrictions. Demi revealed in her 2017 documentary "Simply Complicated" that she too didn't have a cell phone during "The X Factor" and was bound to the curfew of her sober living home.)

Lovato loved gushing about Britney during "The X Factor" days (and vice versa) - this was especially true in their joint cover spread with TV Guide Magazine:

Demi began, "I’ve said from Day 1, when [Britney] stepped on set, how funny she is. I don’t think a lot of people have gotten to see her personality and her sense of humor."

Humble Britney hopped in, saying "The same about Demi. Even though she’s really young, she has such a sophistication about her. She’s cooler than me."

"No, I’m not! Oh, my God!" - Lovato quipped back.

Another interview showed Spears praising Lovato again, saying she "totally admire[d] her work and everything she's done."

Britney also thanked Demi for helping her determine "what a good rapper is" - watch the clip below.

The total number of compliments they've swapped is almost innumerable, but they're definitely piling up...at least on Demi's side.

In 2016, Lovato said the first album she ever bought with her own money "was Britney Spears' ('... Baby One More Time')."

"It was pretty crazy sitting next to her (on 'The X Factor')," Demi told the Houston Chronicle. "It was something that was definitely very surreal and kind of full circle. She's a legend, and I enjoyed every minute of it."

"I think she's a sweetheart. I'm really lucky that I got to know her a little bit."

Demi had previously told MTV that sitting next to Britney Spears "didn't suck at all, just saying."
