Kate Hudson recently opened up about her split from ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy and how that experience has changed her. During a guest spot on a recent episode of the “Reign with Josh Smith” podcast, the “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” actress talked about how she didn’t want her relationship with Bellamy to end.
Things Changed For Kate Hudson After Her Relationship With Matt Bellamy Ended
Hudson, 43, opened up about how she realized she needed to make some changes after the relationship with Bellamy, 44, ended. That’s when accountability entered the picture for the Fabletics co-founder. “You have to be honest with yourself,” she said. “I think that’s when things started changing for me – when I started taking far more accountability for my own s—.”
The couple was engaged from 2011 to 2014 and share one son together, Bingham, 11. It was at the end of the relationship where she began “to shift.” “That was when it started to shift because that’s where I think you find your power,” she explained. “When you realize how imperfect we all are, when you’re okay with that, it’s very liberating.”
The relationship with Bellamy was Hudson‘s “second failed baby-daddy relationship” and gave her the opening to begin to “figure this out.” Hudson is also mom to son Ryder Robinson, 18, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, and daughter Rani, 4, with fiancé Danny Fujikawa.
Kate Hudson Co-Parents And Has Blended Family Holidays
Hudson and Bellamy continue to co-parent together and even have blended family holidays together. Last year, Hudson told Women’s Health that her and Bellamy made a parenting pact long ago. “One thing that Matt said tome, which I loved, is, ‘I just want to make sure that Bing feels like he’s gaining something, not losing something,'” she said. “I think it’s even bonded us closer – me, Matt, Elle [Evans, Bellamy’s wife], and Danny, because we have to trust that we’re protecting each other.”
Earlier this year, Bellamy and Hudson had a blended family Easter celebration with Fujikawa and their daughter Rani, Bellamy, his wife Elle and their daughter Lovella, 2, and Bingham.
During a January 2021 episode of “Sunday Today with Willie Geist,” Hudson talked openly about having three children with three different men and the expectations that she has placed on herself. “I’ve got multiple dads, I’ve got kids all over the place,” she said. “The only expectations I really have that are really high on my life is with my kids and with family stuff. Other than that, it’s like, I just let it go. I work my a– off, and then I walk away, and I hope for the best.”
