While many NBA fans are "impressed" with Stephen Curry's basketball skills, his kids may not be impressed with him for that exact reason. Curry talked to E News! at the Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year awards last week about his kids and their thoughts on his superstar status.

Curry, 34, dad to Riley, 10, Ryan, 7, and Canon, 4, with wife Ayesha, was recently named Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year. He's also a four-time NBA champion and two-time MVP, but that doesn't exactly impress his kids much. When asked if his kids are "impressed" with him the way others are he explained that it's probably for different reasons.

"I would hope to say yes but probably for different reasons. I don't think they care too much about how many times the ball goes in the basket," he said. "They've been to a couple of parades and all that, so they enjoy the festivities of celebrating a championship."

And while they may not be too into dad's basketball skills, they are interested in sports. His oldest, daughter Riley, is interested in volleyball and Curry's youngest, son Canon, is already starting to show his athletic side. "He's only four, but we'll figure out what he's really interested in over the next couple of years," he explained. "But there's no pressure either way. You just want them to find what they love and support them."

For the Golden State Warriors star, being dad is what it's all about. "You get to watch them grown and blossom and find their personality and support them and have fun with them," he said. "They like my goofiness and the way you just show up at home more than anything."

And the support goes both ways in the Curry household. Curry credits that support for being "the gas in the engine in terms of giving me the space to be able to invest in my craft and the amount of sacrifice it takes to work at that level," he said. "But also, the unconditional love and support of wins, losses, great games, bad games. They're there, and I hope to be there for them through all that life throws at us."

Stephen Curry Shared Snaps Of "Curry Boys" Bonding Time On The Court

In August, Curry and son Canon hit the court for some "Curry Boys" bonding time. The NBA star posted a carousel of photos of the day on the court with his youngest child on Instagram and the post received more than 1 million views and thousands of comments. Simply captioned, "Saturdays are for the Curry Boys 🏀" the photos show Curry's "mini-me" donning his famous dad's number 30 on his little jersey.

One fan wrote in the comments, "Canon is gonna be the only one to pass his dad in 3 pointers made," and another added, "I hope to be alive to witness Canon become the greatest shooter of All time by surpassing his Dad."

Curry had an amazing 2022 with lots of positive excitement. To finish off his epic year, he was just named the Sports Illustrated 2022 Sportsman of the Year. Known for his amazing three-point shots and skill on the court, Curry told Sports Illustrated he seeks greatness without becoming consumed with it. "Winning is fun. We all know that. But to do it in a way that people speak on our culture, speak on my leadership, you have the respect of people around you - like, all that stuff matter in the big picture," he said. "And it's hard to do."

The Warriors' star said it's all about having fun. "The pure joy I have on the court, it's like a spacey kind of attitude. Like, I'm not thinking of anything other than just hooping and having fun," he explained. "That's why I have all these mannerisms and joy and happiness out there, because I'm kind of just lost in the game."
