The Most Shocking Revelations From Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Docuseries, 'Harry & Meghan'

After a long wait, the Netflix docuseries of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has been released on the streaming platform. The couple announced earlier this year that they intended to release a documentary that would serve as an exposé into their life and that of the royal family.

The released half of the series, "Harry & Meghan," went into detail on a number of things that occurred in the past, including Markle's introduction to the royal family, the alleged racist attacks from the British media, and several other incidents. There was also some comparison between Markle and her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

The title card to the series read, "This is a first-hand account of Harry and Meghan's story, told with never before seen personal archive. All interviews were completed by August 2022." The first three episodes of the docuseries featured self-taped video journals of the couple, including their final public engagement as senior members of the Royal family in March 2020.

Harry was shown in a private suite at London's Heathrow Airport and disclosed what drove him to leave the Royal family. He said (via E! News), "My job is to keep my family safe. But the nature of being born into this position amid everything that comes with it and the level of hate that is being stirred up in the last three years, especially against my wife and my son, I'm generally concerned for the safety of my family."

Markle, who was in Vancouver at the time, revealed that she wanted to "get to the other side of all of this." While in tears, the mother of two said she felt like "they," presumably the royal family and British media, were trying to destroy them.

Harry name-called the two parties at the start of the series, revealing that he felt like his duty was to "uncover this exploitation and bribery that happens within our media." He added per E!, "This isn't just about our story. This has always been so much bigger than us. No one knows the full truth. We know the full truth. The institution knows the full truth, and the media knows the full truth because they've been in on it."

The documentary details how Harry and Markle met and got married. According to the actress, she was on a hiatus from "Suits" and had already laid out plans for herself before a mutual friend introduced them. After their almost disastrous first date, the two hit it off and started properly seeing each other.

Harry revealed that he had some reservations about the relationship initially because of how the British media treated and invaded the privacy of the previous women he dated.

The father of two said, "I remember thinking, 'How could I ever find someone who is willing and capable to be able to withstand all of the baggage that comes with being with me?' Every relationship that I had, within a matter of weeks or months, was splattered all over the newspapers and that person's family harassed, and their lives turned upside down."

Despite his apprehension, the Duke revealed that he couldn't help himself and eventually opened his heart to the relationship.

Harry talked about how he struggled after his mother died in 1997 in a fatal car crash. He explained that he had to put up a brave front while playing the grieving son. He said, "When my mom died, we had two hats to wear. One was two grieving sons, wanting to cry, grieve, and process that grief because of losing our mom. And two was the royal hat, show no emotion, get out there, meet the people, shake their hands."

"The UK literally swept me and William up as their children," and, along with that, came "an expectation to see myself and William out and about was really hard for the two of us," Harry continued. The paparazzi soon started following the Royal and publishing negative stories about his partying life in school.

As a tribute to his mother, Harry and Markle reportedly put a portrait of Princess Diana in Archie's room. The actress is shown telling the toddler that the woman in the picture is his grandmother.

"Harry & Meghan" also looked back on the duo's first trip as a couple which was to Botswana. The location comes as no surprise, especially in the face of Harry's strong ties with Africa. The Duke's childhood memories with his mother were also reviewed.

The docuseries also showed Harry pointing out the similarities between Markle and the late Princess Diana, his mother.

Harry spoke especially about the media hounding endured by both ladies, stating that he found it difficult "to see another woman in my life who I love go through this feeding frenzy. It is basically the hunter versus the prey."

Besides the harassment from the media suffered by both Diana and Markle, The Duke also revealed that they had the same warmth, compassion, empathy, and confidence about them.

According to Harry, when he introduced Markle to the royal family, they were "incredibly impressed" by her. They were apparently surprised by how he could land "such a beautiful woman and such an intelligent woman"; however, her acting career gave them pause.

The father of two claimed that because she was an American actress, they felt the relationship would not last. Markle said per E!, "The actress thing was the biggest problem, funny enough. There was a big idea of what that looks like from the UK standpoint, Hollywood, and it was just very easy for them to typecast that."

After going public with their relationship, Harry and Markle received negative comments from the press to their surprise. Harry was reportedly upset by the racist remarks and issued a statement contrary to the Palace's orders, condemning racism of any kind.
