Sofia Vergara is putting everybody in a patriotic spirit after dropping a throwback that has fans dripping in red, white and blue. The 47-year-old actress was feeling nostalgic about becoming an American citizen because she paid tribute to her famous episode of ABC's "Modern Family" that dealt with the same issue.

"#tbt I miss Gloria!! #4thOfJuly?? #ModernFamily," Vergara captioned the photo of her "Modern Family" character Gloria donning a pair of teeny-tiny American flag-themed denim shorts and a tank top with a photo of a bald eagle.

The screenshot is from episode 22 of the sixth season of "Modern Family," titled "Patriot Games." In the episode, Gloria studies and eventually becomes an American citizen, something that Vergara actually did in real life.

Back in 2014, the TV star appeared on Jimmy Kimmel and announced she had recently been awarded citizenship after acing the test.

"They make you jump through hoops because they have to make sure that you deserve to be part of the country," Vergara told Kimmel."

She added, "The most interesting thing for me was, they give you like a hundred questions that you have to learn, and then they give you a quiz, like a test."

The Colombian-born actress then proclaimed that "I got all questions perfect."
