Kirstie Alley is dead.

The 71-year-old actress died following a short and “only recently discovered” battle with cancer.

Alley’s family shared the heartbreaking news on social media.

In a lengthy message shared to her Twitter, her family wrote: “To all our friends, far and wide around the world… We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered.”

Alley was surrounded by her closest family and “fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”

The actress had an incredible team of doctors and nurses at the Moffitt Cancer Center.

Her family is grateful for their care.

“Our mother’s zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave. Us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did,” the letter continued. “We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you repsect our privacy at this difficult time.”

The note concluded, “With love always, True and Lillie Parker.”

Her on-screen love interest in several films and off-screen friend, John Travolta, paid tribute to Alley.

John Travolta Shares Touching Tribute To Kirstie Alley

He shared a throwback photo of her from what appears to be the 80s or 90s.

“Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again,” he wrote.

This is second close friend and on-screen co-star to pass away this year.

He lost Olivia Newton-John only a few months ago.

They starred alongside one another in “Look Who’s Talking,” “Look Who’s Talking Too” and “Look Who’s Talking Now.”

Like Travolta, Alley was a longtime member of the Church of Scientology.

Alley was a seasoned actress with roles on TV and multiple movies.

She is known for her role on "Cheers," "It Takes Two" with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson, "For Richer or Poorer" starring Tim Allen, "Drop Dead Gorgeous" and so many more.

Her name instantly began trending on Twitter along with "Look Who's Talking."

Travis Tritt paid tribute to the late actress on Twitter writing, "Shocked and saddened by news of Kirstie Alley."

Carmen Electra shared a carousel oh photos of Alley writing, "#rip to this kind, beautifully talented soul. we love you Kirstie 🤍🕊."

Prior to her death, Alley announced she was doing Cameos in a hilarious video.

"Hiiii, it's Kirstie. A bunch of you have been asking me to do these... greetings," she said as a baby made noise in the background. "Oh, I just had a new baby by the way. I know I'm a little old for a new kid. Congratulations to me, I'd say. Anyways, if you want something fun or something sincere, I'll will really try to be sincere, but you know like, 'Hi, I love you,' or 'Merry Christmas,' or 'I want a divorce,' whatever you need I'll deliver."
