Cliched as it may sound, they say that playboys often make the best husbands. Now, we don't know if George Clooney falls in the playboy category, although Eva Longoria has some stories about him, he's definitely a doting husband to his gorgeous wife, Amal.
Clooney walked the red carpet at The Kennedy Center Honors as a member of the 45th class of honorees for the lifetime artistic achievement award, but it was his interaction with his wife that stole the show.
George Clooney Helps Wife Amal Steal The Show
Clooney was in august company, as the other honorees included Amy Grant, Gladys Knight, Tania León, and the members of the band U2: Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. Despite the shiny medallion around his neck, it was Amal who stole the show on the carpet, wearing a stunning red Valentino gown.
Amal, 44, paired the dress with a matching clutch and cape, and it was the cape that nearly cost her an awkward red carpet moment as it tangled. Clooney played the doting husband to the tee as he quickly fluffed out the cape, in accompaniment to Amal's sheepish grin.
Clooney, 61, came dressed in a dapper black tuxedo as he walked in with his wife of eight years, with whom he shares 5-year-old twins Ella and Alexander. Speaking of his kids, Clooney spoke with Fox News Digital and joked that he'd won "many" awards before he admitted that his kids did not even know of his status in Hollywood, and they were completely unaware of the honor he just received. In fact, when Clooney tries to tell them about his status in Tinseltown, they don't believe it. Said the actor, "No, they don't even … I keep trying to explain to them what a big star I am, and they don't really care. And, they don't actually believe me, do they?"
So while he's just a dad to his twins, he's also just a loving husband to his wife, and their body language says it all.
Fans Say, Now There's A 'Mighty Good' Man
The fact that Clooney behaved just like a loving husband would do on the red carpet seems to have impressed the fans, as one Instagram user wrote, "God he did WELL👏."
Another had a more prosaic comment, "They are in love so this is SOOO NORMAL!! He’s helping his wife and I’m sure it’s mutual!! I think they get it…George is not new to this scene!! He’s a class act and he waited for his perfect woman!! She’s so smart, eloquent, and has her shit together!!"
Another seemed too impressed to form proper sentences, saying, "Better than how they look. Who they are. Honor. Standards."
Yet another fan gushed, "Oh George! What a sweet hubby straightening out his wife’s train 🥰. He’s a keeper Amal!"

While Instagram seems to be bowled over by Clooney, the man himself made an emotional statement about receiving the honor, saying, as per ABC news, "Growing up in a small town in Kentucky I could never have imagined that someday I'd be the one sitting in the balcony at the Kennedy Center Honors. To be mentioned in the same breath as the rest of these incredible artists is an honor. This is a genuinely exciting surprise."
There was also a ton of praise for Amal's off-the-shoulder red gown, in Valentino's Spring 2022 Couture collection.
Wrote fans:
"My God, she hasn’t aged a day!!!"
"I love that her dress covers her upper body so nicely with just a bit of bareness. This style is much more elegant and attractive than dresses showing nearly nude upper bodies. Amal is classy, chic, and effortlessly glamorous."
Here's her, looking even more stunning, the next day.
