Nick Cannon Hospitalized Following Pneumonia Health Scare

"Wild n' Out" show host and creator Nick Cannon was recently admitted to the hospital for pneumonia. The father of 11 has a long-standing lupus illness after being diagnosed in 2012. At the time, he revealed that he had to change several aspects of his life, such as his work habits and diet, to make the illness non-life-threatening.

Cannon has just hosted his Wild 'N Out tour live show in Madison Square Garden, New York, on December 1. The show included several of the original stars, such as Justina Valentine, Rip Michaels, Pretty Vee, and several others, Cannon included.

While the sold-out show was a success, with thousands of fans singing along with the presenters, the father of one just revealed that he just came down with pneumonia as an after-effect. He expressed his disbelief at the turn of events but reassured fans that he only needed time to rest and recuperate.

Barely a day after concluding his sold-out show in Madison Square Garden, Cannon announced that he had been diagnosed with pneumonia. The actor shared two pictures on his Instagram page of him in a face mask, a beanie, and a hospital gown in a hospital room.

In the post's caption, Cannon disclosed that he "promised myself I would never be back at this place again." He also stressed the importance of taking care of oneself before extending said care to others. "But this is a great lesson to take care of YOU, or YOU won't be able to take care of everyone else," the show host said.

He continued, "Don't trip, though; I don't need any well wishes or prayers, just some solid rest, and I will be back on the journey to becoming stronger than ever. It's just pneumonia, nothing I can't handle."

Abby De La Rosa, the actor's baby mama, shared his post on her story with the caption, "Believing in gods healing hand over you, Prayers up for a real-life superhero @nickcannon! We all need you."

Cannon concluded his post by looking back on the previous night and how different it was compared to his current situation. "Crazy thing is, last night we was just rocking a sold-out crowd at Madison square garden in front of thousands of fans, now I'm all alone in a tiny hospital room," Cannon wrote. "Life is definitely a rollercoaster!"

In January 2012, Cannon was diagnosed with lupus nephritis, a lupus kidney disease. After a series of increasingly severe symptoms, the actor sought medical help and was hospitalized on January 4, 2012, and given a diagnosis after tests were run. While talking to Lupus.org, he revealed that the disease was explained to him as nonlife-threatening as long as he ate right, cared for his body, and rested.

"It was explained to me that it was an autoimmune disease and if I managed it properly and took the proper medicine, that it wasn't life-threatening. I had to be extremely careful, get on the proper diet, get the proper rest, and take care of my body, and I'd be able to fight it," Cannon said per Lupus.org.

The show host admitted that he went right back to his hectic work schedule after he started feeling better, a move that landed him in the hospital again in February 2012 with a pulmonary embolism. He recalled taking several prescribed medications and switching to a low-sodium diet for almost nine months.

While the changes affected him, Cannon said he was able to keep his health a priority and left his prior tasking job on the CBS affiliate WXRK-FM. As a result, the actor disclosed that he had better sleeping patterns and no longer had to be as strict with his diet. His multiple medications were also significantly reduced.

News of Cannon's health scare comes weeks after the show host welcomed his 11th child, Beautiful Zeppelin Cannon, with Abby De La Rosa. She already has 17 months old twins with Cannon, Zillion, and Zion.

Overall, the actor has had 11 children from six women, and model, Alyssa Scott's pregnancy, will make it 12. Besides his three kids with Rosa, Cannon shares 11-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, with singer Mariah Carey, his ex-wife. The rapper co-parents son, Legendary Love, with model Bre Tiesi and has a daughter named Onyx Ice Cole with model LaNisha Cole.

Cannon also fathered three children, Rise Messiah, Golden Sagon, and Powerful Queen, with model Brittany Bell. He lost his son, Zen, who he shared with Scott, to brain cancer in December 2021.
