Lauren Drain Has Come A Long Way
The 36-year-old has come a long way to be proud of who she is. Drain actually grew up as a member of in the Westboro Baptist Church, which is known for being a hateful cult due to their “homophobic picketing.” The Instagram influencer and fitness model was brought into the organization by her father when she was 14, but more recently, she left the Church and began her social media career, which has taken off.
She discussed her experience in her 2013 tell-all titled “Banished: Surviving My Years in the Westboro Baptist Church,” but also opened up about that chapter in her life when on the Michael Sartain podcast.
“They prep you with this information of what’s going to happen to you if you get kicked out,” she said. “I think when I came home, I saw my face get markered out,” Drain continued.
Lauren Drain Lost Her Family After Leaving The Church
When she made the decision to leave, she had thought her family would support her, however, that was not the case. “I was so low, these 70 people were the only people I associated with for seven years,” Drain continued to explain while on the podcast. “My mother, my father, my siblings, they cut me off all at once, they said I’m not worthy of God, not worthy of them.”
“I couldn’t have a phone call, I couldn’t come home for dinner, I couldn’t drive by the house. If you got cut off from everyone you love in one day, and they told you, ‘go f**k yourself’, that’s what I had,” she said.
At the time, she was focusing on her career as a nurse, which helped her get her mental health back on track. “Thank god I was really secure in my job because that was the only security I had in life… I honestly just grinded it out and worked as much as possible because I didn’t really have a life outside of that,” she added.
Arianny Celeste Supports Fellow Ring Girls
UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov recently made some comments that criticized the use of ring girls in the MMA Octagon. He even went on to call the ring girls “useless” and that he didn’t understand how they contributed to the sport.
After the comments were made, Arianny Celeste immediately took to Instagram to speak out about the comments, standing up for herself and for her fellow Ring Girls.
“I’ve worked over 15 years in this industry and learned it’s easier just to simply NOT CARE,” Celeste wrote. “For 15 years we have been more than just ring girls – we have dedicated time in promoting UFC and showing love and time to our die-hard fans through touring the world and personal appearances. And while the world is very different right now, I can still feel that energy and love every time we have a show with an audience.”
She continued to explain how her 15 years of hard work and dedication have led her to be “A bad a** independently wealthy female. A real estate investor and owner of not just 1 but 3 homes/properties one located in LA -which is expensive AF, and a female who is not afraid to take risks and build for my future.
The 37-year-old concluded with, “You don’t have to like me, but you will respect me.”
