Musician Lindsey Buckingham is mourning the death of his Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie.
The talented vocalist and songwriter died on Wednesday at the age of 79 after being ill for a short while. She joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970 and helped pen several of the band's greatest hits during her career that spanned several decades.
Shortly after news of McVie's death broke, Buckingham posted an emotional tribute to her on Instagram, highlighting their close bond and his sadness over her demise. Another band member Stevie Nicks also echoed similar sentiments in a separate post shared on Instagram.

'I Feel Lucky To Have Known Her'
Buckingham took to Instagram to share an emotional eulogy to his Fleetwood Mac bandmate, McVie, who recently passed on at the age of 79.
In his post, the 73-year-old singer-guitarist expressed his deep hurt at her death after years of having a close bond as colleagues and friends.
"Christine McVie's sudden passing is profoundly heartbreaking. Not only were she and I part of the magical family of Fleetwood Mac, to me Christine was a musical comrade, a friend, a soul mate, a sister," a hand-written letter of Buckingham's tribute read.
The lead vocalist also wrote a message for the grieving fans, saying that his co-singer will continue to live on via the various projects she had contributed to during her life.
He continued, "For over four decades, we helped each other create a beautiful body of work and a lasting legacy that continues to resonate today. I feel very lucky to have known her. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on through that body of work and that legacy."
Fans React To Christine McVie's Passing
Fans also shared heartfelt messages expressing how much they will miss the late singer,
One Fleetwood Mac loyalist wrote, "She's a loss to us all but perhaps no one more than you. Thank you for Buckingham- McVie. It's a timeless treasure."
Another follower penned, "Sorry for your loss Lindsey. The music you and her made together are some of my all-time favorites. And those songs will live on because they are truly timeless."
One more fan commented, "Lindsey, my heart aches for you. I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you find strength in the wonderful music created and the beautiful memories shared. Love you."
Another distraught fan wrote, "You guys were amazing. What a wonderful gift she gave us all. So sorry for your band family. Her beautiful music lives on forever."
Stevie Nick Shares A Sweet Tribute To Her Dear Friend, Christine McVie
In a separate post, another Fleetwood Mac member, Stevie Nicks, shared her own tribute soon after the news of McVie's demise went viral.
"I didn't even know she was ill… until late Saturday night," Nicks shared on her page.
She then talked about wanting to sing a song to her bandmate, which was no longer a possibility due to her demise. Nicks subsequently penned a snippet of the lyrics to Haim's 2019 track "Hallelujah" as part of her tribute.
"I had a best friend, but she has come to pass / One I wish I could see now / You always remind me that memories will last / These arms reach out," the singer wrote before adding, "See you on the other side, my love. Don't forget me — Always, Stevie."
Christine McVie Died In The Company Of Her Family
McVie passed on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, after succumbing to a short illness. Although there was no exact explanation of the ailment, the singer died in the company of her loved ones, as confirmed in a post from the family.
The post read," She was in the company of her family. We kindly ask that you respect the family's privacy at this extremely painful time, and we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally. RIP Christine McVie."
Prior to her death, McVie served as a vocalist and keyboardist with Fleetwood Mac. She penned most of the songs on the band's hits and also released several solo projects.
