Mama June Shannon Opens Up About $2,500 Daily Meth Use

Mama June Shannon is revealing more information about past drug use, including her abuse of prescription pain medications and methamphetamine. In a recent clip from “Mama June: Family Crisis,” Mama June is seen discussing her drug use with her 20-year-old daughter, Lauryn Shannon.

Mama June, 40, has revealed more information about the drug use that landed her behind bars recently, and the conversation is set to air on “Mama June: Family Crisis.” Recent episodes of the show have focused on June's distance from her family, including her daughters.

In the clip, Mama June says, “Our habit was $2,500 a day, if not more.” She also admits to using “a couple ounces” of meth each day with her boyfriend, Geno Daok.

This drug use apparently led to Mama June selling the family’s home in spite of the fact that they were getting a lot of work and making money. She said, “The only reason I sold the house, we was dead . . . broke.” Selling the family home led to increased tension and separation in the family.

In addition to meth, Mama June also admitted to using Xanax, typically used to treat anxiety, and Fioricet, which treats headaches. This was an ongoing issue for Mama June. The video shows the reality TV show mother saying, “I got high because I wanted to. It’s not the first time I’ve ever done drugs, and you know that.”

Lauryn said, “This has been the first time since we’ve been older that you’ve ever been strung out.” She also pointed out that nothing was going to change if Mama June’s boyfriend did not also get clean.

Lauryn has had a major problem with Mama June’s boyfriend. She says in the clip, “I don’t even understand . . . why you are still with him.” Seemingly, Daok has helped create a rift between Mama June and her children.

Lauryn has taken on the responsibility of keeping Mama June’s destructive behavior away from the children. As the reality show has demonstrated, Lauryn now takes care of June’s 14-year-old daughter Alana. She also has her own young daughter to care for.

In March 2019, Mama June was arrested based on possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Her boyfriend faced the same charges in addition to charges of domestic violence.

Recently, the reality star was also sent to rehab after she was found to have cocaine in her system. Some dispute existed as to whether the positive test came from cocaine use or cold medication. Mama June is apparently sober now. Lauryn expresses hope that Mama June will remain successful in her recovery.
