During the October 25th episode of her "Archetypes" podcast, Markle talked about the "angry Black woman" myth with actress Issa Rae, writer Ziwe Fumudoh, and professor Emily Bernards. After Rae mentioned that she'd once been termed "particular," Markle said that she'd also used the term to describe herself and said it can still be a loaded description.

Markle shared that she was always "cowering and tiptoeing" into rooms and had to consciously break the habit. She said, "I was just like, 'Oh, my God, stop, stop, whispering and tiptoeing around it.' Just say what it is that you need. You're allowed to set a boundary. You're allowed to be clear. It does not make you demanding. It does not make you difficult. [It] makes you clear."

In the first "Archetypes" episode, Markle shared the details of a fire incident involving her son Archie while they were on a Southern Africa tour in 2019. She revealed they'd had to drop the then 4-month-old Archie at a guest housing unit before embarking on their royal engagements.

Unfortunately, just after the royal couple finished their first engagement, they received some very scary news about a fire at their housing unit. Markle said, "We finish the engagement, we get in the car and they say there's been a fire at the residence. There's been a fire in the baby's room."

Markle further revealed that, thankfully, Archie was not in his room when the fire started and that the staff quickly got it under control. To compound matters, she and Prince Harry were informed that they had to continue to the next royal engagement before they could go home to check on Archie.

The former "Suits" star explained that she'd wanted to inform the organizers of the next engagement of the fire incident, but her request was seemingly refused. Markle said, "The focus ends up being on how it looks instead of how it feels. And even though we were being moved into another place afterwards, we still had to leave him and go do another official engagement."

In an August episode with singer Mariah Carey, titled "Duality of Diva," Markle spoke about how being with Harry changed her perspective on many things, including race. She said, "I think it's very different for us because we're light-skinned. You're not treated as a Black woman. You're not treated as a white woman. You sort of fit in between."

Markle spoke about how she began focusing on her race after meeting Harry and finally understood what it was like to be "treated like a Black woman." In another episode with guests Constance Wu and Jenny Slate, she spoke about how Harry saved her life by connecting her with a mental health professional to help her when her mental health hit its worst.

The Duchess then encouraged fans to always know when they need help and to prioritize their mental health. She said, "But I think it's important for all of us to be really honest about what it is that [we] need and to not be afraid to make peace with that, to ask for it."
