Floyd Mayweather’s ex Josie Harris’ cause of death has been revealed as an accidental overdose involving fentanyl and Xanax.
According to official records, The Los Angeles Medical Examiner-Coroner determined 40-year-old Josie died of “MIXED DRUG TOXICITY (FENTANYL, ALPRAZOLAM)."
ALPRAZOLAM, which is a medicine used to treat anti-anxiety, is more commonly referred to by the brand name, Xanax.
As The Blast previously reported, back in March, Josie was found dead in her car which was parked outside her in Valencia, California. She was found unresponsive in her car. Officials said one of her kids found her in the vehicle in front of their property.
Police found no evidence of drugs or suicide. Officials didn’t find a suicide note written by Josie. After her death, Floyd posted a tribute to the mother of three of his children on social media. He posted throwback photos of the two captioned, “My Baby.”
At the time of her death, Josie was headed to trial with Floyd in a $20 million lawsuit. The two were scheduled to face off at trial on December 7, 2020.
Back in 2015, Harris sued Mayweather for $20 million accusing him of lying about her in an interview with Katie Couric. During the sit-down, Mayweather claimed Harris was high on drugs during a 2010 domestic violence incident. Mayweather was arrested following the incident and sentenced to two months behind bars.

In the lawsuit, Harris accused Mayweather of lying and claimed the evidence showed he viciously abused her. At one point in the case, she scored a huge victory with an appellate court siding with her allowing the case to move forward.
The appeal court found, “Since this evidence is unequivocally at odds with the assertion that Mayweather was simply restraining a drug-addled Harris by only twisting her arm, it may reasonably be inferred that Mayweather acted with malice or reckless disregard of the truth during the Couric interview."
