As The Blast previously reported, Leno was rushed to the hospital on Sunday, November 13th.

The former ‘Tonight Show’ host sustained the injuries after an explosion occurred while working on a clogged fuel line on his 1907 White Steam car.

He underwent skin graft surgery earlier this month. His doctor, Dr. Peter Grossman, explained Leno had skin grafts that are not his own, meaning skin the hospital had in its skin bank from donor skin.

The Grossman Burn Center shared a photo of the TV personality looking to be in good spirits upon being released from the hospital.

Leno Had An Intense Recovery Process

According to the FDA, hyperbaric oxygen therapy “involves breathing 100% (pure) oxygen while in a special space called a hyperbaric chamber. The air pressure inside is raised to a level that is higher than normal air pressure. The increased air pressure in the chamber helps the lungs collect more oxygen. Getting more oxygen to the tissues that need it can help the body heal and fight certain infections.”

New video footage shows Leno’s left arm wrapped in a white bandage up to his elbow while his entire right hand is wrapped up. His face is entirely wrapped in gauze.

Leno’s doctor, Dr. Peter Grossman, spoke to IE and told them his “injuries are serious,” but he’s in “good condition.”

Dr. Grossman is the lead doctor at the famous Grossman Burn Center West Hills Hospital.

The TV personality did have to undergo a “grafting procedure” to replace areas of burned off skin. Dr. Grossman explained he’s had skin grafts that are not his own, meaning skin the hospital had in its skin bank from donor skin.

A skin graft is a patch of skin that is removed by surgery from one area of the body and transplanted, or attached, to another area, according to Mount Sinai.

“His injuries are serious, his condition is good,” Dr. Grossman said, adding that Leno “did well” during the first surgery.

The car enthusiast was in “good spirits.” He’s up walking around and even cracking jokes, according to his doctor. This week, he helped pass out cookies to patients in the burn center.
