As the ongoing beef over Barstool Sports'"Call Her Daddy" podcast has boiled over into the public forum, some powerful names in entertainment are apparently trying to throw their weight around and take sides ... which is exactly how Justin Bieber's manager learned a valuable lesson.

To get caught up -- Barstool Sports originally signed a deal with "Call Her Daddy" co-hosts Alex Cooper and Sofia Franklyn to host a raunchy sex show that ended up skyrocketing in popularity. The ladies wanted to re-negotiate their deals as they built a loyal following and entered back into negotiations with Barstool and its founder Dave Portnoy.

Apparently at the same time, Franklyn's boyfriend, an HBO sports executive named Peter Nelson, aka 'Suitman,' was shopping the podcast to other networks, even though Barstool owned all the intellectual property. The move didn't sit well with Portnoy, who has been on a public crusade against Nelson for days.

The latest update in the negotiations was that Alex Cooper now signed her own deal with Barstool and will resume hosting the "Call Her Daddy" podcast without former co-host Sofia Franklyn.

As a last-ditch effort, Nelson apparently had his friend Scooter Braun place a call to Barstool Sports CEO Erika Nardini asking for a bigger piece of the "Call Her Daddy" brand for Franklyn.

Braun is the manager of Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande and is known for his connections in entertainment. He's also known for purchasing Taylor Swift's master recordings in a business move that turned the "Shake It Off" singer into an enemy.

After learning that Scooter placed a call to Nardini, Portnoy went on Instagram and ripped Bieber's manager for getting involved.

In a mocking tone, Portnoy said, "You think we give a f--k about Scooter Braun?!" adding that "We do things our way, the right way."

According to a now-deleted tweet, it appears Scooter tried to defend his actions and deny he made the call ... but Portnoy wasn't having it and continued to lay into the music manager.

"So you’re saying you didn’t call about chd?" he challenged.

Portnoy ended up taking a call with Scooter and told the Barstool Sports fans that Bieber's manager was asking to be let off the hook.

"I had a convo with
@scooterbraun
He wanted to make it clear he wants nothing to do with this drama. I gave him my word I wouldn’t tweet about him again."

Portnoy did fire one last shot, however, after a fan-made video showed the Barstool honcho squaring up with Scooter via a "Kill Bill" parody. Portnoy promised he was done going in on Scooter but had to amend his statement:

"Then this video happened. My hands are tied. To quote Bill Parcells.I reserve the right to change my mind. Slave to content."
