The reality TV couple’s accountant Tarantino who played a role in their tax evasion was convicted in June for running a scheme that involved defrauding banks and the IRS by taking out loans and then dodging creditors.

"Why did Tarantino conspire with the Chrisleys to defraud the IRS?" is the question that Assistant US Attorney Annalise Peters was asking during Monday’s hearing. She states that it is possible that Tarantino got caught up in something that went way over his head.

Peters also pointed out that Tarantino was only paid about 40K for his work indicating that it wasn’t a great payoff for the amount of time he just received in prison. She described Todd as a "charismatic criminal" alluding that this could be why Tarantino was so eager to help the couple.

The accountant apparently got lucky because Peters was asking for 41 months in prison which is still on the lower end of sentencing time but more than the 36 months he ended up with. Because Tarantino was not the “mastermind” of the money fraud, his lawyer pleaded for leniency and received it.

Daniel Griffin, Tarantino’s attorney asked for 18 months in prison for the older gentleman pointing out that community letters came pouring in to rally with him and also noting that he has donated to many charities and performed other acts of kindness.

All this to say that is out of character for the accountant who has had a spotless career until now. Tarantino’s lawyer also shared with the courts that he is sickly he has ongoing health issues that putting him in prison won’t help. Also, coming up in May, Tarantino is set to have surgery on his hip. He is clearly in no shape to enter prison.

The couple is up next according to Todd’s lawyer Bruce Morris, who is asking for less than the minimum of the 30-year maximum sentence because of Todd’s mom, Nanny Faye because she is frail. Todd is also looking for grace for his house staff and employees who work on the show.

Prosecutors are allegedly asking for at least up to 17 years in prison for the couple who rose to fame in 2013 on their reality show, The Chrisleys. The couple is accused of manipulating their financial records to look richer than they actually are in order to qualify for bigger loans.
