In 1992, the singer and actress was diagnosed with breast cancer, which forced her to postpone and cancel several tours.

In 2005, Newton-John was dating Patrick McDermott, who unexpectedly went missing at sea while on a fishing trip. He was never found.

“It’s very hard to live with that,” she told CNN’s Larry King in 2006. “It’s probably the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve been through a lot of things.”
