Theranos' disgraced CEO and founder, Elizabeth Holmes, is pregnant with her second child. The businesswoman was convicted in January of several counts of fraud. Before her trial started in mid-2021, Holmes' attorneys revealed that she was pregnant and pushed for a move of the trial date.

After the birth and several other delays, the businesswoman was convicted of multiple counts of fraud and was recently sentenced to 11 years in prison. She was accused of defrauding hundreds of millions out of investors and the patients of Theranos, her Silicon Valley blood-testing company.

Holmes once again announced that she was pregnant, but this time there would be no delays in the law proceedings. The convicted fraudster will likely welcome her child behind bars.

Per People, Court documents obtained by The New York Times revealed that Theranos CEO and founder Holmes is pregnant and expecting her second child. The Stanford University dropout was previously convicted of several fraud charges and sentenced to 11 years in prison for her crimes.

Holmes' pregnancy was reportedly after her January conviction. Before the recent announcement, the disgraced businesswoman revealed that she was pregnant last year in March, causing her trial to be moved.

On Friday, Holmes was sentenced to over a decade in prison. The presiding Judge, Edward Davila, ruled that the businesswoman would serve three years of supervised release after spending around 135 months in federal prison.

Holmes was tried on 11 counts of fraud due to the claims she made to the patients and investors of Theranos, her blood testing company. While she was found guilty of three counts of wire fraud and a count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, the mother of one was not found guilty of four other counts.

Holmes' company Theranos started up in 2014 and defrauded investors of millions of dollars by claiming that it had technology that could use a few drops of blood to run hundreds of tests. She was ousted in 2015 by John Carreyrou, a Wall Street Journal journalist who claimed her machine, The Edison, did not work, and Theranos used outside technology and produced fake results.

Holmes was indicted in 2018 after federal authorities investigated her. Although her lawyers tried to paint her as naive, it had little effect on the outcome. Holmes also claimed at the time that she suffered sexual, emotional, and psychological abuse while with Ramesh "Sunny" Balwani, which clouded her judgment.

Balwani is a former Theranos executive and her ex-boyfriend, as well as a co-defendant. In July, he was convicted of 12 counts of fraud and will reportedly be sentenced after Holmes.

Holmes' conviction comes at a time when the lives of several criminals are being turned into shows and documentaries. In a recently released Hulu series titled, "The Dropout," Amanda Seyfried starred as the businesswoman. Besides her role as the lead character, the actress was also a producer for the miniseries.

In the series released in April 2022, Seyfried looked exactly like Holmes in her black turtleneck top and red lipstick. Her blond hair was also pulled back in messy Holmes fashion on several occasions.

Prior to Seyfried, Kate McKinnon was cast to play Holmes. The actress was signed on in April 2019 and was to serve as an executive producer before her departure. The "Mean Girls" star stepped into the role in March.

"The Dropout" was created by Rebecca Jarvis, Taylor Dunn, and Victoria Thompson and explored how Holmes created Theranos, her controversial medical company, after dropping out of Stanford University.
