Fresh off a bevy of Primetime Emmy wins, HBO has officially renewed the Mike White anthology series, "The White Lotus." The show will continue for a third season, focusing on new characters and a new location.
The show's renewal was announced amid Season 2, which is still airing at the moment, with the finale airing later next month.
'The White Lotus' Will Return For Season 3
According to HBO's official announcement on the renewal, the next season will follow a new group of guests at another White Lotus property. The show originally debuted in July 2021 set in Hawaii.
The series has been a breakout success for the premium network, receiving 20 Emmy nominations across 13 categories and 10 wins overall. The show received the most Emmy Awards of any show last year, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
Season 3 debuted on October 30 and will see its finale air on December 11. The first episode of Season 2 had 7.6 million viewers. Last week's episode saw the show ranking as the No. 1 overall title on the HBO Max streaming service.
Speaking on the news, show creator, writer, and director White stated, "There’s no place I’d rather work than HBO and there’s no people I’d rather partner with than Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi, Nora Skinner, and their incredible team." He continued, "I feel so lucky to get this opportunity again and am excited to reunite with my amazingly talented collaborators on 'The White Lotus.'"
HBO also teased the third season with a post on the show's Instagram, writing, "At #TheWhiteLotus, we manifest the things our guests desire into existence. We can’t wait to welcome you to our next White Lotus property."

As reported by The Blast, Jennifer Coolidge returned for Season 2, reprising her role as Tanya McQuoid-Hunt. Her performance in the first season earned her Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
The show's first season is set on an exclusive resort chain called The White Lotus. The series followed the vacations of various hotel guests over a week's timespan as they attempt to relax and rejuvenate in a luxurious paradise. However, as time passes, a darker complexity emerges from what at first appear to be picture-perfect travels. Season 2 of the show was set in another White Lotus resort located in Sicily.
New cast members for Season 2 also included Aubrey Plaza, Michael Imperioli, Adam DiMarco, Meghann Fahy, F. Murray Abraham, Haley Lu Richardson, Tom Hollander, Theo James, Will Sharpe, and Leo Woodall.

The Season 3 pickup of 'The White Lotus' comes a mere two weeks after HBO's recent cancellation of the acclaimed sci-fi series, "Westworld." However, with the awards and prestige that "The White Lotus" continues to rack up, it's plain to see why the show would get an early renewal before Season 2 has even concluded.
White wrote and directed Season 2, with White, David Bernad, and Mark Kamine serving as executive producers. White also earned an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for the first season.
"The White Lotus" Season 3 does not have an official debut date yet with Season 2 not finished airing. Viewers can check out the first season and the first half of Season 2 on HBO Max.
