Jennifer Coolidge Talks Being Rushed To Hospital: 'I Started To Feel Really Weird'

Jennifer Coolidge just wanted to avoid the ghost-look for her role in The White Lotus, but instead, she ended up in the emergency room.

The 61-year-old had a scary incident take place on her way to set to film season 1 of the HBO series in Hawaii.

“For ‘The White Lotus,’ I didn’t want to look like a big, white marshmallow on the beach in Hawaii, so I got a spray tan,” she recalls. “I got on the plane, and I started to feel really weird. By the time I got off the flight, I had to go to the emergency room.”

The allergic reaction forced the production team to change up her makeup palettes for filming to accommodate her new, temporary skin tone.

“I think we ended up using regular makeup,” she shared. “The minute we stopped filming, I would shower. I have such a quick reaction to stuff.”

The allergic reaction must have been worth it because the actress recently accepted an Emmy win for her as Tanya McQuoid. Even though the hospital visit was unpleasant, Coolidge is glad to be over the whole ordeal.

She went on to share with the publication that she was never someone who thought much about ingredients and what she put on her skin but as of lately, it has become a priority.

“I’d say the last five or six years, I started getting allergic. My eyes would always be tearing up, but it never occurred to me that it was my makeup.”

The Legally Blond star now practices self-care regularly, mostly to keep her skin calm but sometimes it has the reverse effect.

The actress shared that her latest attempt at self-care came right before her Emmy appearance. “I took a lavender bath tonight right before the show, and it made me swell up inside my dress.” She laughed as she joked about the epic fail.

Her win for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, is a first for Coolidge. She went on to look past the bloat and any other issues she had With her appearance that night. because she's a freaking Emmy winner now!

“But anyway, this is so thrilling,” she beamed brightly. The show took home 10 wins that night including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. The 2021 dramedy focuses on the staff at a luxury resort hotel called The White Lotus over the span of a week.

The actress is set to reprise her role in the next season that’s slated to premiere in October. It will be interesting to see what her aloof, grief-stricken character will get up to in Sicily, Italy the new location.

Jon Gries is also set to return after meeting and hooking up with Jennifer Coolidge’s character in season 1. The love birds look to be enjoying an Italian romance in season 2. Alongside, Coolidge and Gries, Aubrey Plaza, Theo James, and Haley Lu Richardson are joining the new season.
