American singer and popstar Aaron Carter reportedly passed away without making a will, leaving the State of California in charge of his assets. The public figure rose to fame in the late 1990s as a teen Popstar and became a household name amongst preteen and teen audiences.
Carter passed away a week ago in the bathroom of his California home. His house sitter found him, and while there are homicide detectives on the case, there is no concrete information concerning the presence of foul play. He is survived by his 11-year-old son Prince whom he had with fiancée Melanie Martin.
Recent reports reveal that Carter did not leave a will behind to distribute his properties. The state of California will reportedly be left in charge and decide on who his successor will be.

Aaron Carter Did Not Leave A Will
According to TMZ, Carter's family just revealed that the artist passed away without leaving a will to share his assets. This places the properties of the Popstar under the care of California, giving the state authority to decide who would inherit his possessions.
His attorney reportedly advised Carter to compose a will; however, he seemed to neglect the advice. The artist had a son, Prince, with his fiancée Martin, who depended on him. In September, the 11-month-old was moved to Melanie's mother's house.
The decision was made after the L.A. County Dept. of Children, and Family Services were brought in due to the ongoing issues between Carter and Martin. The artist was reportedly still advised by his attorney to make a will; however, he passed before getting around to it.
His Son Prince May Inherit His Estate
Luckily for Prince, California's interstate succession law will ensure that the 11-month-old receives most, if not all, of his father's assets. In California, along with most other states, when an unmarried person with a child passes away without a will, the child left behind will be given the parent's estate.
While it is reassuring to hear that Prince will receive his father's properties, TMZ reports that there is not much to receive at the time of Carter's death. The news platform claimed that a source said the artist wasn't stable financially before his passing.
Despite this, Carter's house is reportedly on the market, so Prince will likely have some financial security from whatever equity the sale of the house produces.
Aaron Carter Passed Away Last Week
On Friday, November 5, TMZ revealed that Carter had passed away. His body was reportedly found in his bathroom by his house sitter, after which the authorities were called in. At the time of his death, the artist was in his Lancaster, California, home.
According to law enforcement officers, no information or evidence points to foul play, and homicide detectives were on the case. Martin, Carter's fiancée, released a statement to TMZ announcing the pop star's passing and asking for privacy.
"My fiancé Aaron Carter has passed away. I love Aaron with all my heart, and it's going to be a journey to raise a son without a father," Martin said. "Please respect the privacy of my family as we come to terms with the loss of someone we love greatly. We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated."
Aaron Carter Threatened To Take Melanie Martin To Court Before His Death
Earlier this year, Carter and his fiancée Martin were embroiled in a lot of drama. The artist promised to take her to court and called out to Camille Vasquez, a part of the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard, to aid him. Carter claimed that Martin ruined his career with accusations of abuse and threatened to sue her for defamation.
She reportedly claimed he broke her ribs in addition to other allegations, which Carter denied. The artist went on to compare his case with that of Depp. Vs. Heard and asked that Vasquez help him secure a win of his own.
Martin was previously removed from Carter's home after he accused her of making off with several of his luxury goods. He claimed she refused to leave his home and attempted to get him worked up by saying several derogatory things.
