Megan Thee Stallion Gets Backed By Women's Consortium And Powerful Black Women After Drake Drama

A group of powerful black women is rallying behind Megan Thee Stallion in light of the accusations she faced.

In 2020, the American rapper claimed that Tory Lanez, who was her friend, shot her in the foot during an argument. Her allegations have faced scrutiny by the public, and several people called the rapper a liar. 

However, Southern Black Girls & Women's Consortium solidly stood behind the “Body” rapper, and they put out an open letter that indicated support for the rapper. 

According to People Magazine, the consortium sent a letter showing their support for the 27-year-old rapper. The letter was signed by over two dozen reps, including #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, Planned Parenthood CEO Alexis McGill Johnson, Congresswoman Maxine Waters and Sheila Jackson Lee, and activists Tamika Mallory and Angela Rye.

The statement addressed to the rapper began with showering praise on her for her success within a short time which made her a source of inspiration to “women around the world.”

Praising the “Sexy Girl” rapper, the letter read, “You're a special kind of talent and a special kind of person; the place you hold in your fans' hearts is a testament to that.”

The letter further acknowledged that the brilliant artist had to “endure a lot of obstacles along the way” to success. However, she had come out of it all and kept focusing on herself. 

"In the face of triumph and tragedy alike, you always keep your head held high, maintain your poise, and push forward. However, while so many of us celebrate you for your strength and perseverance, it must be said that you have been treated in ways that no young woman–no person at all–should be treated," it read.

Additionally, the written message condemned the harassment the songwriter received from the public even though she had spoken about what happened. Despite this, she didn’t get the support she should have gotten. 

"You don't deserve any of this, Megan," it emphasized. "You deserve to be heard, to be believed, and most importantly, to be safe."

The note continued with a general plea to the public to help and believe victims of domestic violence, especially Black women, who the letter said are often "fearful of what will happen to their assailant if they choose to involve the law… and are left unprotected by the system and the community alike." 

It also commended Megan for being strong and partnering with the consortium on their inaugural Joy Is Our Journey tour despite going through a tough time. 

In the concluding parts, a strong proclamation showing encouragement for the artist was written. It read, “We raise our voices against those who have made light of this heinous example of violence against women and will drown them out with our demands for society to take what happens to Black women seriously. You are not alone. You are believed, loved, and supported. We stand with you, Megan.”

The open letter comes days after the “Captain Hook” rapper called out Drake for the lyrics to his latest song. The song “Circo Loco” was released as one of several tracks on Drake’s latest collab album, “Her Loss,” which featured 21 Savage. 

The Blast updated that Megan took to Twitter blasting the Canadian rapper while claiming that the song contained lyrics that defamed her. 

In a part of the song, Drake rapped, “This b**ch lie ’bout getting shot but she still a stallion / She don’t even get the joke but she still smiling,” seemingly accusing Megan of lying about getting shot by his friend Lanez in 2020.

In response, she tweeted, “I know I’m very popular but y’all gotta stop attaching weak a** conspiracy theories in bars to my name lol. ‘N*gg*s nor h**s EVER address me or @ me WITH a fact or receipts. I AM CLOUT B**ch keep sucking my p**sy.”

She further called out singers who had disassociated from Kanye when he made the anti-Semitic remarks but turned a blind eye in cases where a woman was the victim.

As for the altercation between the “Savage” rapper and Lanez, the case is still in court. The rapper was released on bail following his arrest on the allegations in late 2020. 

However, he was rearrested in 2022 when a judge decided he breached a protective order issued that barred him from harassing and intimidating Megan. The “Feel it too” singer’s next hearing is scheduled for November 28. Lanez faces a possible term of 22 years and eight months in state prison if convicted.
