Lindsay Lohan Says She 'Just Felt Like It Was Time'
In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Lohan discussed her comeback to the movie industry after almost a decade away. She stars in Netflix's romantic comedy "Falling for Christmas," which she signed on to in May 2021.
"I just felt like it was time, and it was just a matter of time before I found the right script, and I found it with 'Falling for Christmas,'" said Lohan about her decision to take on the Netflix role.
Having spent so many years away, Lohan said she missed "being on set" and "making movies" for her fans and viewers at large. She disclosed that this spurred her return to Hollywood.
As for the hassles involved in finalizing the gig, the "Mean Girls" star shared that everything "just worked out perfectly" for her, seemingly hinting that her transition from being out of work to now starring for the streaming giants was seamless.
She Was Nervous On Her First Day Back On Set
Elsewhere in the interview, Lohan reflected on her experience returning to the set to continue once again, a career she began as a child.
"The first day on set, I'm always nervous on any set I'm on," the "Freaky Friday" star said. She then admitted that coming back this time worsened the bout of nervousness she usually experiences.
Despite feeling nervous at the time, Lohan shared that she was very excited to get on with filming.
She added, "I don't know if I was annoying! I was just really excited to be there…I felt really grateful... It's all been a lot of fun."
In November 2021, filming for "Falling For Christmas" started in Utah, with the filmmaker, Janeen Damian, helming the production. On October 7, Netflix released an official trailer for the film, which was followed by its release on November 10, 2022.

In "Falling For Christmas," Lohan starred as Sierra Belmont, while singer ChordOverstreet played her character's love interest, Jake. The actress had earlier informed fans what they should expect from the movie back in February.
She said, per Vogue, "It's a really fun, uplifting romantic comedy. And it's actually really funny. When I read the script, and when we started to film it, I didn't realize how physically funny we were going to be. There's a lot of physical comedy in it, which I really liked doing—it's one of my favorite things to do, which I haven't got to in a while."
Since it debuted on the streaming platform, the movie has received mixed reviews, with many critics bashing its script for not offering any uniqueness. However, Lohan has been praised for her performance.
What's Next For Lindsay Lohan?
In the meantime, Lohan has no plans to return to her hiatus following her recent film feature. The actress is slated to star in two more pictures for Netflix as part of the deal she signed when she made her comeback.
Her next feature for the streaming giants comes in another romantic comedy, "Irish Wish," also directed by Damian. Production for the film started in September, ahead of its release in 2023.
Regarding future projects, Lohan is looking to work only on movies similar to "Falling For Christmas."
She told Vogue, "This first movie was perfect for me, because I really want to do something happy and fun and family-oriented. I like doing that. I miss seeing romantic comedies, and less of the horror [genre]. I want to keep it happy."
