‘Blue Bloods’ Star Tom Selleck’s Reason For Leaving ‘Magnum P.I’ Is Shocking

Tom Selleck is not only a brilliant actor, he takes his job very seriously. The actor has been featured in several series, but he is most popular for starting in the original “Magnum P.I.”

According to reports, the series may have run longer than 8 seasons, had Selleck not walked out on the show to focus on other aspects of his life. The surprising thing about this is that “Magnum P.I” is one of the most popular series ever made, but Selleck’s mind had been made up and he stuck to it.

Selleck did not only walk out on the project, he took time away from Hollywood in the 90s. Presently, he is starting in the awesome series titled “Blue Bloods” and the completion of the 10th season will happen next week.

Why did Tom Selleck quit MPI? While speaking to PEOPLE magazine, Selleck said that his decision to leave the series was not because he did not like everything that was going on for him at the time. However, it was vested in the fact that he was tired of the experience.

According to reports, the year the “Blue Bloods” star quit the series, he decided to purchase a ranch located in Venice, California. He moved there with his wife Jillie and the duo have called that place home for many years now.

“My relationship and my ranch keep me sane.” Selleck said in the interview.

The ranch has a lot of amazing things that have no doubt impacted Selleck’s life positively. From the large avocado farm and about 1500 several native trees, for Selleck, buying this ranch happened at the right time and he is grateful.

Several actors, especially those who take up roles in long series often come to a point where their personal life clashes with their work life. It is an inevitable struggle and that is why many decide to take time off to sort out their homes and live the best way they can before returning to the big screens. Taking sick a decision for Selleck, May not have come easy because he had a lot of great opportunities presented to him, but in his defense, his sanity is more important.

He plays the role of Francis Xavier Reagan, the commissioner for the NYPD and authoritative father figure of the Reagan household. Although Reagan is a commissioner, he also has the ability to make split decisions in the moment to save a situation whether at work or at home.
