Rachel Recchia Is "Grateful" For Gabby Windey After Split From Erich Schwer

During the “Bachelorette: After the Final Rose”, fans watched as Erich Schwer got down on one knee and proposed to “Bachelorette” co-lead Gabby Windey.
Before the finale aired, controversy surrounded Schwer, involving a Blackface incident as well as with an ex-girlfriend. The show addressed the ex-girlfriend topic, to which Windey even sided with the woman in question, but went on to say they are willing to work on things and seemed happy together.
Unfortunately, just a few weeks later, Windey was spotted without her engagement ring on her fingers during “Dancing With the Stars,” and fans began to speculate the two parted ways. Just a few days ago, Rachel Recchia, the other lead on last season of “The Bachelorette,” confirmed the news in an Instagram Story.
Now, Recchia is saying she is “grateful” for Windey after the split.
Rachel Recchia Speaks Out On Gabby Windey Split
Rachel Recchia recently appeared on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, where she addressed the split between close friend Gabby Windey and her ex-fiance Erich Schwer, going as far as saying she is grateful for Windey because she is keeping busy by competing on “Dancing with the Stars” amid her split from Schwer.
"She is so busy right now, which in a way, I'm super grateful for this for her, because I think it's really helpful to throw yourself into something,” she explained. “She really is practicing all day, every single day."
Recchia concluded with, "I'm just happy she has something to focus on instead of just whatever is happening behind the scenes."
Windey and Schwer are still trying to work through things as Schwer continues to support Windey on his Instagram, asking fans to vote for her on “Dancing With the Stars.” This is something “Bachelor” host Jesse Palmer also recently confirmed, saying “I spoke to her yesterday [and] spoke to Erich this morning, and I know they’re still trying to kind of work through things, so just giving them the space that they need.”
Rachel and Gabby Continue To Support One Another
The 26-year-old reality television star continues to support Windey in her season of “Dancing With the Stars,” even attending live tapings as often as she can.
"As much as we can talk and exchange texts we do, and I go and support her in person really any chance I can get," she continued to explain on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. "Whatever support and whatever she needs right now, I'm going to try to give to her, just because we all know how difficult it is, especially in the public eye."
“Dancing With the Stars” has just entered the semi-finals, which Gabby Windey and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy made it in to. She will be competing against “Let’s Make A Deal” host Wayne Brady and partner Witney Carson, drag queen Shangela and partner Gleb Savchenko, reality television star Charli D’Amelio and her partner Mark Ballas, and “CODA” actor Daniel Durant and pro Britt Stewart.
The show airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET on Disney+.
