Singer Miguel is responding to his wife's divorce filing, reminding her that the former couple entered into an iron-clad prenuptial agreement.

According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, Miguel is agreeing with his ex-wife -- Nazanin Mandi-- that "irreconcilable differences" is the reason for their split. However, like in many celebrity divorces, it's the spousal support and money that can get hairy in these situations.

In the response, filed by Miguel's celebrity attorney, Samantha Spector, Miguel says he and Nazanin hashed out an iron-clad prenuptial agreement, prior to the marriage, and everything should now be smooth sailing with figuring out their divorce settlement.

We broke the story, Nazanin filed for divorce from her famous husband last month and agreed some sort of prenuptial agreement is in place. It should be noted, Nazanin listed their date of separation as "to be determined" while Miguel has a firm date of August 1, 2022, as the official end of their marital relationship.

The reason this is important is that spousal support, and who gets what in a divorce, can be based on WHEN a couple actually legally separated. For instance, if Miguel signed a major recording deal, or contract AFTER the date of separation -- it is considered his sole and separate property. We are guessing this might become a central issue in this case.

Also, Miguel and Nazanin will have to agree on a date of separation because that specific date will determine the length of time either party will have to pay spousal support.  The former couple has no children, so there is no issue with child support.

Sources close to the situation tell us, the split is amicable so far, but both Miguel and Nazanin have to determine all of their financials and divide any "community property" before their divorce can become final.

In a separate interview, Nazanin said, "It just felt right. It was a long time coming and you know, when you’re with somebody starting from 18, a lot of things happen.  There’s a lot of growth. There are a lot of growing pains and all through our twenties was the time to get our minds right, to really find ourselves and through that process, fortunately, we grew together and not apart. Now in our thirties, it just felt so right to finally make it official."

The divorce case is ongoing.
