Will Smith and Chris Rock are still not on speaking terms.
However, a former co-star of Smith believes that will all change one day.
The actor’s “Wild Wild West” co-star, Bai Ling, believes Smith and Rock will “eventually become good friends.”
Will Smith & Chris Rock Could Become Friends Again
You may recall that their relationship came to a screeching halt at the 2022 Academy Awards. Rock told a “G.I. Jane” joke at Jada Pinkett Smith’s expense and after realizing she didn’t take kindly to it, Smith charged Rock onstage and slapped him across the face.
Smith proceeded to scream “keep my wife’s name out yo f**king MOUTH” at Rock.
Smith was banned from attending the Academy Awards for ten years following his despicable actions.
Ling believes the Academy Award winner has greater humility and is on his way to becoming a “better person.”
Will Smith Is On His Way To Becoming A "Better Person"
"People make mistakes. The mistake he made was not good. It needs to be recognized and changed,” Ling said in a report from The U.S. Sun. “We all fall, but it is a time to get up. We rethink and become more enlightened. When he comes back, he will be a much better person. He will have more power in humbleness and influence people. We have to forgive - we all have made mistakes."
Since their fallout eight months ago, Rock has refused to accept Smith’s apology, but Ling has hope for a reconciliation.
"I think eventually, Chris and Will will become very good friends. It will take a little time. Mark my words. They will be,” she said. "Will has a very pure heart and he really worked hard to treat his craft seriously and sincerely apologize. I guarantee he felt terribly. I think they will both understand one another."
In July, Smith broke his silence about the infamous televised moment.
He took to Instagram and shared a video that was over five minutes long to answer questions about the viral incident.
“It’s been a minute… Over the last few months, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and personal work…” a message on the screen began. “You asked a lot of fair questions that I wanted to take some time to answer.”
Chris Rock Refuses To Accept Will's Apology
“Why didn’t you apologize to Chris in your acceptance speech?” was the first question. Smith said he was “fogged out by that point” and said that his recollection is “fuzzy.”

Smith said that he has reached out to Chris, but he is not ready to talk at this time. The actor said that Rock will reach out to him when he’s ready to talk.
Smith spoke to Rock directly in the video, saying, “I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”
He also extended an apology to Chris’ mother, saying that he saw an interview that she did. Smith said that he didn’t realize, and wasn’t thinking, about how many people got hurt “in that moment.” He also apologized to Chris’ family, specifically his brother, Tony Rock. “We had a great relationship,” Smith said, noting that “this is probably irreparable” after the slap.
