Supermodel Gigi Hadid has deleted her Twitter account after Elon Musk's multi-billion dollar takeover of the social media platform.
In a message posted on her Instagram story on Friday, she stated why she quit the platform and apologized to her longtime supporters. She also shared a post that revealed that Twitter's whole human rights division had been fired.
Similar to Hadid, singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, R&B star Toni Braxton, and "Bridgerton" creator Shonda Rhimes have all severed their ties with Twitter. The supermodel was recently linked with Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio after they were spotted hanging out together.

Gigi Hadid Calls Twitter 'A Cesspool Of Hate & Bigotry'
Taking to Instagram on Friday, Hadid announced to her 76.2 million fans that she was leaving Twitter in the wake of Musk's 44 billion dollars acquisition of the platform.
In a statement that showed off her disdain for the current way Twitter was being run, the mother-of-one expressed her reason for making the decision, despite the platform being one of the many channels she maintains communication with her fans.
"For a long time, but especially with its new leadership," Hadid wrote on Insta story, per Page Six. "it's becoming more and more of a cesspool of hate & bigotry, and its not a place I want to be a part of."
Attached to the supermodel statement was a post made on Twitter by human rights counsel Shannon Raj Singh, who had earlier announced the tech company laid her off and that the entire department she worked for suffered a similar fate.
Gigi Hadid Says Twitter Is Not A 'Safe Place' Following Elon Musk's Takeover
Hadid also reflected on her time on Twitter which has spanned a decade. She also apologized to fans who might feel saddened by her decision and reiterated her stance about Twitter not being a "safe place."
The mother of one has been known to be involved in multiple activism causes in the past, which seems to explain why she used Singh's tweet as the centerpiece for her announcement about quitting Twitter.
Twitter had earlier explained that the cuts were necessary to achieve their future objectives.
"In an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday," the tech company said in an e-mail to its workers, per New York Post. "We recognize that this will impact a number of individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action is unfortunately necessary to ensure the company's success moving forward."
Other Celebrities That Have Left Twitter
Apart from Hadid, several other celebrities have announced their decision to quit Twitter. Last month acclaimed singer Braxton told her fans that she was leaving the social media platform in the wake of Musk's takeover.

"I'm shocked and appalled at some of the 'free speech' I've seen on this platform since its acquisition. Hate speech under the veil of 'free speech' is unacceptable; therefore I am choosing to stay off Twitter as it is no longer a safe space for myself, my sons, and other POC," the singer wrote.
Award-winning filmmaker Rhimes also said she was "not hanging around for whatever Elon has planned" for Twitter. In addition, Bareilles and Leoni have also all announced their departure from the social media site.
Gigi Hadid Has Been Linked To Leonardo Di Caprio
In the meantime, Hadid has continued to spark dating rumors about being involved with actor DiCaprio.
The pair were recently seen in the company of each other at a New York Fashion Week party in September. Since then, several sources have speculated that the model and the Academy Award-winning actor are no more casual friends.
One source told People, "[Hadid] seems very happy and excited about seeing [DiCaprio]. She is attracted to him. He treats her really well. She finds him mature and charming."
However, the source added that Hadid was not getting too excited about her connection with DiCaprio, saying that her "first priority is being Mom."
The Guest In Residence founder is a mother to her daughter, Khia, who turned two last month. She shares her child mwith her former partner, Zayn Malik.
