Former Playboy star Ashley Mattingly has died.

Her siblings - sister Christy and twin brother Billy - confirm the 33-year-old committed suicide inside of her Texas home last Wednesday. The family reports Mattingly left a note and had been struggling with substance abuse since moving to Austin in recent years.

TMZ was told that "Ashley was found unresponsive Friday after a friend called the Austin Police Department for a wellness check after Ashley went radio silent."

"We're told police took the note as part of their investigation."

The outlet added that Mattingly was "trying to get her life back on track" while battling the "demon" of alcohol abuse. Being advised to self-quarantine only made things worse.

"The shelter-in-place order in Texas did not help Ashley," they continued, "even though Ashley recently adopted a 9-month-old golden retriever puppy to help with her loneliness." The dog - called Miss Jean - is now safe in the care of her family.

Mattingly, once named Playboy's "Miss March," was no stranger the legal consequences of alcohol either.

The troubled Playmate - then living in California - was arrested in 2016 after taking her golf cart on a drunken spin, slamming her vehicle into four parked cars along the way. Residents of her Laguna Beach neighborhood provided photos of the escapade which helped police trace everything back to her.

"Ashley has a different story though," TMZ said at the time. "She tells us someone stole her golf cart and went on a joyride.

She adds she wouldn't have answered the door if she had anything to hide from cops."

Mattingly also offered her tendency to "mix extra strong drinks at home sometimes...which doesn't seem like the greatest defense."

"That giant gash on her face might also be tough to explain away."

A few years prior, surveillance footage from her Beverly Hills apartment complex showed ex-boyfriend Lane Garrisonhitting Mattingly across the face. Garrison, who appeared in 'Prison Break,' was waiting outside the building for her to arrive back home. The pair were seen visibly arguing in an elevator before Mattingly looks to have asked Garrison to leave.

It was Mattingly who exited the elevator first, followed by an enraged Garrison who dragged her by the arm as things got physical. He was later arrested on a felony domestic violence charge.

Mattingly's last social media post - a video, posted just two days ahead of her April 15th death - was taken from a hospital bed. Though high-pitched and hard to understand, the added animal filter made it look like she was in good spirits. The eerie clip has Mattingly encouraging her 1,200 Instagram followers to watch their own alcohol habits.

"I’m not quarantined I took bad advice and drank too much which I [vomited] a lot of blood ? please slow down on the drinking!"

Mattingly's final update signed off by expressing how "lucky" she felt to have gotten into a hospital during the pandemic.
