When VH1's "Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party" series kicked off in 2016, many viewers thought it was a recipe for disaster. After all, what could a renowned homemaker be doing with a rapper who is well-known for his joints and hardcore lyrics?
Things, however, turned out differently as Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart gave viewers more than they expected, creating unforgettable moments coupled with fun and enviable declarations of —platonic — love for each other.
Martha Stewart Attributes Her Youthfulness To Snoop Dogg's Friendship
Stewart reminded fans of the easy rapport between her and Dogg when she attributed her youthful appearance to their friendship. In a throwback picture she posted to her Instagram Story, the TV personality spotted a cheeky look as she clinked her margarita glass against Dogg's.
While she wore a yellow dress with ruffled sleeves and dangling earrings, her partner in crime rocked a blue bucket hat, a black long-sleeved shirt, and a pair of dark sunglasses.
The picture came with the tagline, "Martha's Secret to Successful Aging? Her Friendship With Snoop Dogg," and a link to a website highlighting the things she had learned from the "Young, Wild, & Free" rapper.
Fans who have followed their journey since they first met in 2008 have become accustomed to seeing such expressions from Stewart. The 81-year-old enjoys their friendship so much that she decided that the 51-year-old would be her first guest on her iHeartRadio podcast, which launched in June.
The Blast shared that the retail businesswoman's reason for that dwelled mainly on the father-of-four's talkativeness and her love for his voice. That is not where it ends for the writer who previously disclosed:
"I like his laid-back energy. I like his outspokenness. I like his sense of timing."
Stewart had also revealed previously that she and Dogg had bonded over a bowl of mashed potatoes when she invited the "Day Shift" actor to her "Martha" show in 2008. The pair reunited on-screen a year later when the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia founder asked him to come to make "special" brownies on the show. The blonde-haired beauty is not the only one who has gushed to the media about their relationship, as Dogg once claimed:
"I love Martha like I love her for real. Like, when I see her away from me, I get jealous when I see other people with her. But then I have to understand; she's Martha Stewart, so she has to give the world what they want."
The rapper has also referred to her as his "home girl" and the "big sister I never had." Fans have often assumed that Stewart's five-month stint in federal prison stemming from insider trading charges improved her friendship with Dogg. In fact, she once admitted that jail time gave her the "street cred" she was lacking in "Snoop's world."
The Mother-Of-One Launches Full-Service Restaurant
The Blast reported that Stewart hit a significant milestone in August when she officially launched her restaurant, The Bedford by Martha Stewart. The "High Maintenance" guest star's 194-seat restaurant was inspired by her 1925 country farmhouse in Bedford, New York. She served the home detention part of her 2005 sentence in that building.
A step into the restaurant unveils a neutral decor with marble counters in the kitchen and subtle colors in the dining room. The patio area is located underneath a fake sky, fitting perfectly with the outdoor theme of Paris Las Vegas, where the full-service eatery.
As for her menu, Stewart pulled all the stops offering Martha's Square Burger, Roast Chicken, Oysters Rockefeller, Crab Cakes, Baked Potatoes Side Dish, Classic Niçoise Salad, Caviar-Topped Potatoes, Short Rib Ragu, and so on.
Per the location's press release, one of the restaurant's most noticeable features would be the "fully immersive" tableside presentations, "which elevate the meal to an interactive culinary journey."
The restaurant's grand opening was attended by "Grey's Anatomy" star Ellen Pompeo, Elaine Wynn, President/CEO of Warner Brothers Discovery David Zaslav, Kevin Sharkey, photographer Douglas Friedman, and Dogg, who allegedly made a "surprise appearance."
Guests were served a variety of foods and treats such as shrimp towers, caviar, crab cakes, salads, burgers, and a dessert buffet filled with a wide assortment of the icon's favorites.
