Jinger Duggar and her husband are getting backlash for celebrating Halloween.
The TV personality is the daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, and the Duggar family is known for upholding conservative values, one of which is not celebrating the spooky season. In 2016, she married Jeremy Vuolo, and they share two daughters.
Joining the rest of the world to celebrate Halloween, the reality tv star and her family dressed up for the day. However, her fans were not having it. A bunch of them insisted that Duggar isn’t supposed to celebrate Halloween as a Christian.
Jinger Duggar Gets Slammed For Celebrating “Evil” Halloween
On Instagram, Jinger shared a photo of her and her family where they all dressed up as fictional characters from children’s literature. The lovely couple dressed as Mr. and Mrs. Brown, while their eldest Daughter, Felicity, went as Paddington Bear, and the youngest, Evangeline Jo, was a jar of marmalade.
“A young bear who needs our help, Henry….. It’s just one night,” the social media influencer captioned the post.
However, some fans were displeased with this, and they took to the comments section to lash out at the tv star. One fan condemned Jinger, writing, “Pastor like you should know the history of Halloween I’m quite disappointed you celebrate this,” while another emphasized, “Halloween is not for Christianity.”
More snide remarks criticizing the influencer for celebrating the spooky season continued to roll in. A fan indirectly threw shades at her father, writing, “Jim Bob is quacking.” Another snarky comment read, “Disappointed light and darkness do not mix. Sad to see this.” One other user expressed. “Christians have no business celebrating Halloween.”
This user admonished Jinger, writing, “ I guess you don’t know the true meaning of this horrible day, why not celebrate Reformation Day, very sad.”
Amidst the backlash, some of her followers stuck with the tv star, claiming that she didn’t do any wrong. “Don’t let anyone bring you down,” this user encouraged. “You committed no sin by wearing your costumes and trick or treating.”
This particular supporter called out those lashing Duggar, writing, “Hahaha, it’s comical seeing people get their panties in a bunch over a cute picture of a family going trick or treating. Pull the sticks out. ”
Showing solidarity with the author and her family, a fan wrote out a lengthy note addressing the issue. “Kenneth Hagin has said that there’s no reason for Christians to be afraid of Halloween. The devil isn’t that important!!! He doesn’t deserve his own holiday.”
The user further detailed, “So I’m glad Jinger and Jeremy were able to celebrate a good time making memories with their kids.”
Jinger Duggar Hints At Becoming More Liberal
Prior to this Halloween post that caused a stir online, Duggar had been showing signs that she was slowly adopting liberal views, although she grew up in a conservative home.
Per reports from The Blast, the “19 kids and counting” star has a reputation for being the most rebellious of her sisters. She was the first amongst her sisters to ditch the long denim skirts they were known for and took to wearing shorts.
Also, the star started to listen to mainstream music as she once shared a Spotify playlist with her followers. One shocking thing the 28- year old mom did was to move far away from her family home. This particular act established her as the most rebellious of the Duggar children.
As for her upbringing, the media sensation was born to parents who belong to a strict fundamentalist sect. This sect forbids them to dance, listen to mainstream music, or watch television and movies. Apparently, these were the rules that governed Duggar’s life growing up.
Many of the reality star’s fans are of the opinion that she has loosened up and no longer abides by the rules she was brought up by.
The “19 And Counting” Star Is Set To Release A New Book
A few days ago, In Touch Weekly updated that Jinger is set to release a new book titled “Becoming Free Indeed.” The book recounted how she began to question some things she had learned while growing up.
As a teenager, young Duggar “was convinced that obeying the rules was the key to success and God’s favor.” While she still remains an ardent Christian, she experienced a great realization after studying the Bible for the first time as an adult.
The book is set to be released on January 31, 2023.
