Singer Ne-Yo filed for divorce from his wife Crystal Smith but quickly withdrew his case.
According to court documents obtained by Bossip, Ne-Yo filed the case last month in Georgia. In the petition, the singer said the marriage was “irretrievably broken” without any hope of reconciliation.
Ne-Yo requested joint legal custody of their two kids. He asked the court to enforce the terms of the prenuptial agreement they signed before their marriage. Ne-Yo believed their marital assets and debts should be divided per their prenup.
The outlet reports shortly after filing the divorce, Ne-Yo withdrew the divorce telling the court he didn’t want to proceed.

As The Blast previously reported, earlier this year, Ne-Yo and Crystal broke up after reportedly having issues for months. The two have been married since 2016 and share two kids, Shaffer Smith Jr (born 2016) and Roman Alexander-Raj Smith (2018).
Since the split, Ne-Yo was spotted living it up in Los Angeles and Crystal got close with “Black Ink Crew: Chicago” star Ryan Henry. The singer even released a song “Pinky Ring” which talked about turning your wedding ring into a pinky ring.

Ne-Yo confirmed the split during an interview saying, “saying, “It’s not a sad thing, it’s more of a us realizing us .. long story short … I’m not going to talk bad about her, I’m not that person. There’s nothing bad to say about her. She’s a fantastic woman, she’s the mother of my children. She’s always gonna be there. I will always respect that.”
He continued, “Long story short, she’s got demons just like everyone else. Just like me. Then we realized our demons don’t mesh and until both of us get ahold of our personal demons it’s gonna be difficult for us to stay married. That’s the end of the chapter not the end of the book.”
Ne-Yo has continued liking Crystal’s Instagram photos despite the split.
