Maksim Chmerkovskiy Opens Up On IVF Journey With Wife Peta Murgatroyd

Dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy shares an update on him and his wife, Peta Murgatroyd, and how they are faring in their journey to expand their family of three. The pro dancer has been a fixture in "Dancing With the Stars" since 2002, and while he officially left the show in season 16, he made many short appearances later on.
Chmerkovskiy and fellow dancing pro, Murgatroyd, got married in 2017 after meeting years earlier on Broadway. During the course of their marriage, the duo has gotten candid about their pregnancy challenges, including a previous miscarriage and a failed IVF transfer.
Murgatroyd informed the public of the most recent failed pregnancy attempt in August, but Chmerkovskiy's recent interview revealed that they had no intention to stop there. The pro dancer said they would look for other options to expand their family.

While talking to E! News, former "Dancing With the Stars" professional Chmerkovskiy revealed that he and Murgatroyd were still very invested in having another child besides their five-year-old, Shai. The couple previously announced that their first round of in-vitro fertilization proved unsuccessful in August.
Chmerkovskiy disclosed that the family was looking into other options, like adoption, to welcome a new child into their home. "We still want a family that's bigger than what we are. We are still going to continue attempts, and we'll see what happens, regardless of the fact we're going to have a bigger family, whether through adoption or whatever this may be."
The pro dancer revealed that watching his wife undergo the IVF process was difficult. Chmerkovskiy also emphasized how important it was to discuss the experience in order to enlighten the public.

During the IVF process, Murgatroyd gave the public updates and was candid while informing them of its failure. The couple received much support from fans going through a similar issue and those who sympathized with them.
Chmerkovskiy noted that the difficulty sometimes faced when trying to have children was not discussed enough. "The difficulties with having a kid aren't talked about in terms of this is happening a lot of women," the dancer said. "They're dealing with it in a very personal, blocked-off, closed-state way that is so detrimental to the psyche."
He also revealed that he was initially skeptical of Murgatroyd's decision to be so candid about their IVF journey but now saw it as a wise decision. Chmerkovskiy said, "The more real we are with each other, the better the society will be all around."

In August, Murgatroyd updated fans about her IVF journey with her husband. In the long emotional post, the pro dancer revealed that the transfer was unsuccessful and said she almost went back on her promise to be candid about the IVF journey.
The video clip showed Murgatroyd in a hospital with her husband, Chmerkovskiy looking at ultrasounds of their baby. It skipped to when the couple found out that the transfer was unsuccessful and Murgatroyd's time on the beach with their five-year-old, Shai.
She wrote, "One of the happiest days of my life, and then 10 days later, one of the saddest moments I'll never forget. Standing on the side of the road in West Hollywood, hoping for the best…thinking this was MY time, my turn for "happiness". Life is funny, though."
Murgatroyd revealed that she had started taking steps to heal from the situation and move forward "with an open heart." She concluded by thanking fans with her during the journey for their guidance and advice.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy Says He Wouldn't Return To 'DWTS'
During his interview with E! News, Chmerkovskiy revealed that he had no intention of returning to "DWTS," at least not anytime soon. The pro dancer has a history of clashing with judges and celebrity partners. Over the years, Chmerkovskiy has left and returned to the franchise several times.
He first left the franchise in 2012 and announced that he wanted to pursue a career in acting. "What else do I have to do there after 15 seasons?" Chmerkovskiy said to The Post.
"It makes total sense. The audience can't expect for me to want to stick around, and the producers can't expect for me to want to stick around."
