During her miscarriage, her husband, Maks Chmerkovskiy was in Ukraine, so she had only her son, Shai, with her.
She told the outlet that she contacted paramedics after finding herself lying, without being able to move, on her son’s bedroom floor.
The professional Latin dancer also initially believed COVID-19 caused it since she was diagnosed with the virus several days before.
She elaborated, “I had no strength. I couldn’t open a dishwasher. I couldn’t open the fridge to feed Shai, to get him some toast. It got so bad that my breath was starting to be affected. It was really dramatic.”
While Murgatroyd was in the hospital, she called her husband, Maks, and at the same time, the doctor walked in to reveal the sad news.
Maks did not initially realize she had lost their baby as he only heard the doctor asking if she knew she was pregnant, leading him to rejoice on the other end of the phone.
The New Zealand-born confessed that she had no idea she was with child at the time and revealed that she had begun bleeding two days before but thought it was her period.
She and her sweetheart had been trying to expand their family for years, and she previously flew over to meet her husband in Ukraine during her ovulation period, hoping to conceive.
Maks was a judge on the country’s version of “DWTS” at the time, and unfortunately, Murgatroyd got infected with COVID-19 during her trip.

The medical experts believed her body could not support the fetus and ward off the infection during the early stages of the pregnancy.
The experience made her feel like dying even though she knew what had happened; however, she could not believe such happened to her.
She also had a past miscarriage experience in 2020, in a bathroom stall of a Whole Foods supermarket with no one to comfort her during the heartbreaking moment.
The Peta Jane Beauty Founder Talks Trying Quarantine With Husband And Son
Living in quarantine was challenging for Murgatroyd and her husband, as they were stuck at home with their three-year-old son.
The Blast previously reported that the couple shared the experience, saying they tried their best and reconnected as a family.
The “Burn the Floor” performer revealed that they had family time “all the time” compared to before, which was “incredible.”
They also ended up exhausted at the end of the day, usually falling asleep watching Netflix once their son went to bed.
Her spouse noted that they relied “so much on outside help,” which he described as “crazy.” So, the quarantine made them know how to spend more quality time together as a family.
Additionally, gyms were closed during that period, meaning they could not perform their much-loved workout routines and had to stick to home exercises.
