Hilary Swank Reveals Her Reason For Waiting To Have Children

Movie star Hilary Swank recently opened up about why she waited so long to start having kids. The 48-year-old actress is currently pregnant for the first time with twins and explained that she felt that "all the elements" had to align, including her career and relationship. She also spoke about how terrible her morning sickness bouts were, saying she's finally feeling better.
Swank also confirmed that her twins are due on her late father, Stephen Swank's birthday, which is a "beautiful coincidence." The actress revealed her father's death in October 2020 with an Instagram tribute that included a photo of them smiling happily.
Swank married entrepreneur Philip Schneider in August 2018 after being engaged for almost two years. At the time, she described their wedding ceremony as "timeless" and "a dream come true." She was previously married to actor Chad Lowe and, after they split in 2006, shared that her future family plans would happen at the right time.

Swank recently had an interview with Extra Magazine, during which she discussed why she'd waited so long to start having kids. The actress said she'd waited until 48 because "I was having a career and not having the right relationship until … four years ago, and all the elements needed to come together and be right."
The "Alaska Daily" actress continued, "It's just something I thought about even as a young girl. It's something that was on my mind, so it's nice to be here and just be pregnant." Swank also spoke about her difficult morning sickness experience, saying she's finally "feeling better."
The "Logan Lucky" star also explained that her friends had warned her about the pregnancy experience, especially as she's carrying twins. Swank said, "My friends tell me when you have double [on the way], it doubles the hormones, doubles the sickness, doubles the everything."

During the interview, Swank also confirmed that her twins are due in April, on her late father's birthday, and said it's a "beautiful coincidence." She gushed about her Dad, Stephen Swank, saying, "My Dad, he was one of my favorite people in the world. It is kind of this tribute of life with them being born on this birthday. … It's all aligning."
The "Conviction" actress revealed her father's death in an emotional Instagram tribute in 2020. Swank posted a photo of her and her Dad smiling happily and captioned it, "This past year was a big one for me and I know for so many of us. I have been off my phone and social media for a couple months due to a tremendous personal loss. In October, my Dear Dad, made his transition to the other side."
She Got Married Schneider In 2018
Swank's pregnancy comes four years after she and Schneider married in a beautiful ceremony in August 2018. She got engaged to the entrepreneur in 2016 after they'd dated for a year and a half. According to Vogue, Swank and Schneider married at the Santa Lucia Preserve in Carmel, California.
Swank wore an Elie Saab Couture piece, and they were joined by their family and friends. She gushed about the ceremony to Vogue, saying, "It was timeless. There is just no other way to describe it. I was overwhelmed with such gratitude and thanks to be marrying the man of my dreams and to see all the people we love together in the middle of such a profound setting. It was truly a dream come true."
Hilary Swank Has Always Wanted To Have Kids
Swank was previously married to actor Chad Lowe for almost ten years, from 1997 to 2006. Shortly after they separated for good, the "Million Dollar Baby" actress had an interview with People, during which she spoke about her plans for a family in the future.
Swank said, "I definitely would like kids someday. That's definitely something that I've always thought about as a very, very young girl. I just love kids and that would be an important thing to happen for me someday whenever the time is right."
